FreZe Nikrob EV

The FreZe Nikrob EV is based on the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV, which is hugely successful in China, but has been modified to make it safer and more energy-efficient.

The Euro version has ESP, airbags, new wheels and LED lighting.

FreZe also added an alternator to power AC devices in the car, such as the audio system, giving the Nikrob around 30 kilometers longer than the Chinese model.

The Wuling Hongguang Mini EV has two battery options: 9.2 kWh and 13.8 kWh, both with LFP cells. This is not the case with the FreZe Nikrob EV: it will only have the larger battery pack in Europe. According to Dartz, the company behind the Nikrob, it offers a NEDC range of 200 km.

The tiny electric vehicle is to be built in Latvia to make it easier to get into the EU markets.

e.Go Life Next

The small electric car e.Go Life has been under construction again since June. More precisely, as e.Go Life Next in Germany.

The e.Go Life was offered from spring 2019, but the manufacturer had to file for bankruptcy in summer 2020 and production was stopped. On September 1, 2020, Next.E.Go Mobile SE took over the business, behind which a Dutch investment company is.

With the special edition e.Go Life Next, the new beginning should now succeed. The drive is an electric motor with 29 kW continuous power / 57 kW peak power. It goes from 0-50 km / h in 4.3 seconds. The maximum speed is 130 km / h. A 21.5 kWh battery enables a range of 132 km according to WLTP.

Elaris Pio

A few months ago, the Elaris company caused a sensation with the tiny Zhidou. The electric car from China is tiny, but the price is just as tiny.

Now the name has been "Europeanized", the model is now called Elaris Pio. The design basis continues to be the Zhidou D2 and Zotye E20.

Otherwise not much has changed: 2.81 meters in length, 1.54 meters in width, 1.55 meters in height and a wheelbase of 1.76 meters are roughly Smart Fortwo level. At the front there are tires in the format 145/60 R13, at the rear there are 165/55 R13.

A battery with a capacity of 27 kWh supplies the 36 kW (49 PS) electric motor with electricity, Elaris puts the consumption at 9.7 kWh per 100 km / h, and the WLTP range should be 225 kilometers. The Zhidou, which weighs 895 kilograms, does not manage more than 105 km / h. Charging is only possible with a type 2 cable, which takes eight hours for a full charge.

There is a 4 year guarantee on the battery, 2 years on the rest. The standard equipment is quite extensive. There are 13-inch alloy wheels, LED taillights, keyless start, electrically adjustable exterior mirrors, air conditioning and even a navigation system with a touchscreen.

Opel Rocks-e

The tiny electric vehicle is already configurable in France, Italy, Spain, Portugal and Belgium, but the Citroen Ami is coming in Germany not initially on the market, as we recently learned. Now it should be clear why: Opel surprises with its variant of the Ami called "Rocks-e".

The people of Russelsheim call the cart "the first SUM", the abbreviation for Sustainable Urban Mobility. The two-seater, which is only 2.41 meters long, is intended to close the gap between electric scooters and small electric cars.

Since the city Stromer, which weighs only 471 kilograms, is classified as a light vehicle, it can be driven from the age of 15. The only requirement is an AM driving license.

Opel has not yet given any information about the drive, but the Rocks-e should get the same 6 kW electric motor as the Ami. The top speed is 45 km / h – with Citroen as with Opel. The 5.5 kWh battery provides a range of 75 kilometers according to the WLTP standard.

The battery is charged via the household socket, which should take around 3.5 hours (0-100 percent). The associated, three-meter-long charging cable is permanently housed in the Rocks-e and can be pulled out of the passenger door if necessary.

The new Rocks-e can be ordered "from autumn". Further markets are to follow in 2022.

Microlino 2.0

The serial version of the Microlino 2.0 was shown at the IAA Mobility 2021 in Munich. This is what the Neo-Isetta finally looks like.

The exterior has been modernized without losing its retro charm. The door handle was replaced by a button. The LED light strips are also new. The interior has also been redesigned and now offers more space. The steering column is now fixed and no longer connected to the door, which reduces the steering forces.

Three battery versions with a range of 95, 175 and 230 km are available; the system output is nominally 12.5 kW (19 kW peak output). The small electric vehicle can thus achieve 90 km / h.

The configurator should go live shortly after the IAA; then the prices will also be announced. Production is scheduled to start in 2021.

City Transformer CT1

An exotic of the rather strange variety is the City Transformer, a small electric vehicle with variable gauge from an Israeli start-up company. A version with a new exterior design was shown at the IAA 2021.

Two electric motors on the rear axle provide the drive. The battery supposedly supplies electricity for a range of around 180 kilometers.

XEV Yoyo

The XEV Yoyo announced for the end of 2020 is now available. At first glance, the car is somewhat reminiscent of the Smart Fortwo, with side bars on the doors similar to those of the Renault Twizy.

At 2.53 meters, the XEV Yoyo is even shorter than the Smart Fortwo, which measures 2.70 meters. The Yoyo is also a little higher than it is wide – not an ideal prerequisite for fast cornering. But that's not what the yoyo is designed for.

The tiny car feels most at home in the big city, but with a top speed of 80 km / h it can also dare to take the country road. The Yoyo is driven by a 7.5 kW permanent synchronous motor on the rear axle.

A lithium iron phosphate battery with 10 kWh and a voltage of only 72 volts serves as energy storage. It ensures a range of 150 kilometers. It is charged either at the Schuko socket or via a type 2 connection. The battery should be able to be charged from 30 to 100 percent in four hours.

One of the special features is a battery exchange system: The three rod-shaped batteries are easily accessible via a small flap at the bottom of the rear. Each battery weighs 25 kilos. Assuming some muscle strength, the elements can still be exchanged by hand when they are empty.

Renault Twizy

The classic among the electric mini-mobiles is the Renault Twizy, which has been built since 2011. Two people sit one behind the other in the 2.34-meter-long car. In the cargo version, the rear seat is omitted in favor of a small trunk.

Even young people under the age of 16 are allowed to drive the weaker version, which only manages a maximum of 45 km / h, while a driver's license is required for the more powerful version with a top speed of 80 km / h.

Although an airbag is standard, there are only side windows as accessories and no heating at all. Over 30,000 Twizy have been built so far.

Mobilize EZ-1

Renault has the small electric vehicle EZ-1 at the beginning of 2021 presented. The concept of the small two-seater is strongly reminiscent of the Twizy, but looks a bit more angular and has side doors made entirely of glass from the start.

The EZ-1 will be the first car of the new Renault sub-brand Mobilize, which will deal with shared mobility, for both people and goods. Specifically, services such as car sharing, ride hailing, last mile delivery and on-demand transit are planned.

Like the Twizy, the EZ-1 is only about 2.30 meters long and is still classified as a prototype. It is possible that he will inherit the Twizy, which has been on the market since 2012.

The vehicle consists of 50 percent recycled materials and 95 percent of it can be recycled at the end of its service life. However, the service life is increased by the possibility of replacing the battery.

Zetta City Module 1

The Russian Minister of Economic Affairs Denis Manturov recently spoke in an interview with the Russian television broadcaster RBK about the prospects for the market launch of two emission-free cars from Russia. After that, the purely electrically powered Zetta City Module 1 debut later this year. A hydrogen version of the Aurus Senate will follow a few years later.

The acronym Zetta stands for Zero Emission Terra Transport Asset. The small electric car should actually hit the market in early 2020 – at a record price of just 450,000 rubles (around 5,200 euros).

Production of 2,000 cars was planned for 2020, after which the manufacturer from Tolyatti (located about 700 kilometers southeast of Moscow on the Volga) wanted to achieve a capacity of 15,000 cars per year. However, production had been postponed.

Series production is now set to begin in 2021. The mini car offers space for two people and is powered by four wheel hub motors with a total output of 98 hp (72 kW). The battery is modestly dimensioned: it stores just 10 kilowatt hours, which should ensure a range of 180 kilometers.

The vast majority of cars on our roads are usually only occupied by one person. Do you need massive SUVs or heavy electric cars?? As an alternative on the other spectrum, so-called micromobility comes into play: small cars of categories L5e to L7e, which are not even legally classified as cars and are therefore not promoted as massively as electric cars.

Once upon a time, Ligier's creaky tiny mobiles were With its 50 km / h top speed prescribed as a walking aid for pensioners, the electric drive is now moving the segment in a double sense. Established manufacturers are discovering the segment for themselves, while newcomers rely on a cool design or special technology.

We present 10 very small vehicles, each of which has its own special charm. Maybe the future belongs to them and there is also a suitable model for you. Click your way through!
