ABB drives expansion of fast charging stations in Germany-stations

The energy supplier ENBW has given another major order to ABB to expand the fast charging stations to German highways. Until the end of the year, a total of 117 ABB fast load columns, at the locations of the locking station operator tank & racing, should be installed. Attached are the charging columns of ABB via a cloud solution to the Internet. As a customer, one gets the possibility to pay cashless. With this order, EnBW decides again for ABB, after being built last year already 68 such fast charging stations with 50 kilowatts (kW).

In terms of charging infrastructure for electromobility, ABB is the market leader, both in Europe and the USA. Because no other company has such a large installed base as the company says itself. For ABB, the renewed large order of the energy supplier is a clear sign that the company is preferred partner in the charging infrastructure for electromobility.

“That’s why we are very pleased that EnBW has again decided on this forward-looking project for our technologically leading products. How important the fast expansion of the charging infrastructure has been shown again this week again at the International Automobile Exhibition in Frankfurt, in which almost all carmakers have announced a massive expansion of their offer of electric vehicles.”- Ulrich Spiesshofer, ABB CEO

More than 5 are now over 5.000 Networked systems for cars and commercial vehicles installed. For a good seven years, the Group offers quick-release solutions. First investments in the promotion of electromobility have already been made to the millennium turn.

The fast charging stations, which are now installed in cooperation with EnBW, have a charging power of 50 kW and are very compact. This is characterized by this particularly for the use of motorway vacations, gas stations, the car dealership, business positions and heavily frequented inner-city areas. Depending on the vehicle type, these can be charged via fast load functions in 30 minutes.

The exploited CloudService: ABB Connected Services helps with the Network Operation Center to help each single charging column monitored around the clock. The operational costs can be reduced by used internet-based services and the availability of the systems are maximized.
