The ADAC has to move out again more often. The starter battery is usually to blame – this also applies to electric cars that still need a normal battery for starting.
The ADAC breakdown helpers were called to 3.49 million breakdowns in the second Corona year. That is 3.1 percent more than in 2020, whereby the traffic volume was at a slightly higher level last year, but still significantly below the pre-corona year 2019. The most common months were January and February. Winter weather, storm and double -digit minus temperatures in the first half of February contributed to the high application.
Battery strike the most – also with the e -car
With just over 46 percent, the most common cause of the breakdown, as in previous years, is the battery. The value is almost identical with that from 2020. In second place there are still breakdowns from motor and engine management with 15.5 percent, followed by other causes such as body, steering or chassis with 14.8 percent and generator, starter, cabling with 10.3 percent.
