Since July 2009, the vehicle tax has been made up of two parts: engine capacity and pollutant emissions are taken into account. In the meantime, the CO2 values of almost 150 car models have fallen below the tax-free maximum of 120 g / km. Even so, they do not cause the same cost. On the contrary.
Neu car owners who have registered their car since July 1, 2009 will benefit from the new vehicle tax. It is made up of a tax rate for the cubic capacity and a share for the emission of carbon dioxide, provided that it exceeds an upper limit of 120 grams per kilometer.
Every gram more of CO2 costs two euros. The displacement component for a gasoline engine is two euros for every 100 cubic centimeters or part thereof. The diesel is 9.50 euros.
So the bottom line is: Those who drive with lower emissions not only save fuel (the higher the consumption, the higher the CO2 emissions), but also taxes.
In the meantime, the range of new cars that stay within the tax-free limit has grown to a confusing size. According to a current study by the ADAC, there are already 145 models on the market for which only the cubic capacity has to be paid for in the tax.
The majority make up small and small cars with 92 models. Well-known representatives are VW Polo, Fiat 500 and smart fortwo. The lower middle class is represented with 40 copies. Popular vehicles such as the VW Golf can be found here, Ford Focus or Opel Astra. With the Ford C-Max and the Seat Altea, two compact vans even fall below the magical emission limit.
And even in the middle class there are 13 models that remain below the limit, including the Audi A4, Skoda Octavia and VW Passat.
Of the 145 models, 105 are diesels. In the larger vehicles in particular, there is no getting around this drive system. The only exceptions in the middle class are the VW Passat 1.4 TSI EcoFuel with natural gas drive and in the lower middle class the hybrids Toyota Prius, Honda Insight and Honda Civic 1.3 (the latter with the addition of i-DSi i-VTEC IMA).
Six or three models run on the alternative fuels LPG and natural gas. 28 models run on petrol, including three hybrid vehicles. What is particularly noteworthy about the ADAC study, however, is that neither natural gas nor LPG and not even a hybrid drive are necessary to drive with fewer emissions.
