Audi brings with FAW E cars based on the PPE platform to China-audi

Already in early October we reported that Audi and FAA are planning to build a new work in which electric cars run on the new PPE platform for sporty and powerful models from the band, which Audi develops in collaboration with Porsche and produce first models from 2022 target. In mid-October, the rumors were officially confirmed. The two companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which defines the framework for the joint production of electric vehicles based on the PPE platform.

Thus, it is clear that Audi, which is developed together with Porsche Premium Platform Electric (PPE) will bring to China in the future in order to continue the transformation in the largest market. On the new PPE platform, several full-electrical Audi models for the Chinese market are to be produced from 2024. As the first models for the new joint venture in China, the internal E6 and EQ5 set of electro series are possible. The E6, a similar electrolimousine comparable to the A6, applies as a hottest candidate for the premiere model of the new factory. The EQ5 would be a SUV comparable to the current Q5.

“This decision underlines the strategic importance of the Chinese market. Thus, we actively drive innovations on site.”- Markus Duesmann, CEO of AUDI AG

It is also conceivable to the report, too, that in the work also E-cars of Porsche run from the tape, such as the electric Macan, which is to be produced from 2022 in Leipzig. So far, however, only says that Audi should consistently write the path of sustainable mobility with cooperation in China. Werner Eichhorn, President of Audi China gave to understand “this is another milestone in our electrification strategy for the Chinese market. We reaffirm our commitment to both our long-standing Chinese partner FAW as well as our commitment to China, which we lift it to a new level.”Up to 2025 Audi wants to achieve around one third of sales in China with electrified automobiles.
