How good is the Audi e-tron GT and what does it cost? Efahrer drove the RS E-Tron GT and E-TRON GT Quattro and reveals important facts from the range to the price to the driving comfort of the Audi E-Tron GT. Can he put the Porsche Cousin Taycan and the Tesla Model S in the shade?

For the first round we pull the top model RS e-tron GT, which with a basic price of around 138.000 euros and a boost output of 475 kW (646 hp) hold a certain respect to the Taycan Turbo S. Performance and behavior
Tight driving performance, for example. Even if you know even faster accelerating cars like Tesla Model S Performance and Taycan Turbo S: the lightness, freedom of delay and violence in the start of the RS is overwhelming. 3.3 seconds pass from 0 to 100 km/h, a good 11 seconds to 200, values that were reserved for the extreme sports car elite ten years ago. The Audi does not make a Radau. The traction control has not done much to do on dry road despite the sloped winter tires, nothing squeaks, nothing breaks out. All four tires interlink with the asphalt and catapult the car forward.
As with the Porsche, the acceleration spectacle can be repeated several times. This ensures that the battery and engines do not drop out of powerful thermal management, which do not fall below their nominal output even under long-lasting full load.
Most electric cars are quick straight away. It becomes more interesting in the curve. For this, the RS e-tron GT brings good conditions. The three-chamber air suspension works adaptively, stems against the side slope and even preserves a very good comfort in the “Dynamic” sportiest driving program. The skillfully coordinated chassis lets the GT react sensitively to the steering. It is far from the tendency to understood classic all-wheel audi with front engine. The last kick provides the all -wheel steering of the RS, which supports the curve entrance with Lenwinkeln up to 2.8 degrees on the rear axle. Like the Taycan, the e-tron GT is astonishingly handy: the five-meter car feels one meter shorter.
So everything like the Porsche? Not quite: Audi deliberately does without the electrical wank stabilization that is installed in the Taycan top models and which ensures an extremely stable curve there. Although the Taycan is anything but an uncomfortable car: the Audi springs more natural with this waiver, which reinforces the comfort impression on a subjective level. At the same time, the urgent feeling is missing in the Audi to have to try the car on a race track. The e-tron GT clearly wants the big trip.

Audi e-tron GT: a lot of highway comfort, little reach
This is very excellent for the Audi: In the modi Comfort and Efficiency, the sound generator holds back in the car, the car glides quietly and smoothly over motorway joints and bad road surfaces. Only the 20-inch winter tires make some roar and roll hard on some coverings. It can be endured in the very low -mounted seats equipped with ventilation and massage functions. Or: you could. At the speed of the motorway 130, the displayed consumption levels off at over 28 kWh per 100 km. With loss of loading, 30 kWh come together – and a range of around 300 kilometers. Our motorway test round will have to determine the exact consumption value, which compensates for the height differences and wind. Nevertheless, you can already state that the e-tron GT cannot drive away from all-wheel driveTAYCANS. The Taycan Base Model with rear-wheel drive undercuts the consumption values.

Audi e-tron GT: loading breaks are short
After all, the forced break remains short after two and a half hours: After a visit to the toilet and a rest area, the battery is invited to 80 percent again, another 240 kilometers can be taken under the bikes. Exactly: 22.5 minutes are enough to refuel the e-tron GT battery from 5 percent to 80 percent charging level. If the charging station can provide 800 volts and the charging power of 270 kW. And if the battery is pre -conditioned (i.e. brought to the right temperature) – this happens automatically when a quick loader is chosen as an intermediate destination in the navigation.
By the way, the e-tron GT is noticeably frugal on the country road. If you link hard brakes from curves, so that the electrical recuperation is sufficient with up to 265 kW brake performance, it will see values around 25 kWh / 100 km on the display on such streets.

Audi assistance systems can be more than that in the Porsche
If you want to do it comfortably on the country road, you will find support in the e-tron GT: The predictive speed assistant automatically takes on speed restrictions and reduces the pace in tight curves independently. If you simply let the Audi do, then it realizes a very soft and incidentally economical driving style. This assistance concept fits that the e-tron GT with cruise control does not overtake on the right, but automatically stays behind cars in the left lane behind cars.
What do you miss in the entry -level model with 530 hp?
After the ride in the RS, there is still an opportunity to try the e-tron GT Quattro. With 390 kW (530 hp) boost output, it is the entry -level model of the series – until even smaller variants can be added. The test car is lighter than the RS: the simplest seats (8-way adjustment, no ventilation and massage) and above all the all-wheel steering are missing, which adds up to around 80 kilograms of less weight.
The weight difference can be felt much less than the lack of the rear axle steering. The driving feeling then signals: Big car. Actually a good feeling, but it is misleading. The turning circle when maneuvering is greater and the stabilizing effect of the opposite steering is missing at higher speeds.
The most likely you will miss in the basic GT-as long as you do not want to measure yourself against stronger electric cars: Even in the e-tron GT Quattro, the heads of the passengers can tip the headrests when they are suddenly accumulated, after a few seconds the quattro is already over 200 km/h fast.

Conclusion: The e-tron GT has become an exciting car. At the luxury price, Audi delivers an outstandingly good travel vehicle that only has one catch: the range is significantly below that of the Tesla Model S. With the unrivaled high charging capacity, the e-tron GT is still suitable for longer distances.
