Audi e-tron: software problems fixed - start of delivery from March 2019-software

In mid-October 2018 it became known that a software problem had delayed the market launch of the Audi e-tron. Responsible is the fact that parts of the software were changed during development and now have to be re-approved by the authorities. The first e-SUV from Audi should therefore go on sale four weeks later than planned. We are now in 2019 and the e-tron from Audi is still not being delivered.

Start of delivery from March 2019

As is well known, the Audi e-tron will roll off the production line at the CO2-neutral plant in Brussels. The delivery of the first vehicles was already planned for the end of 2018. Now it will be March 2019 until Audi begins delivery. The SUV with all-wheel drive draws a combined 300 kW (408 hp) from two electric motors. The range is currently given as more than 400 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle.

As a spokesman for the Wolfsburg-based car company confirmed when asked by Auto Production, deliveries of the e-tron to European customers are scheduled to start in March. The necessary homologation of the electric car was completed in December 2018. The first vehicles were delivered from the Brussels plant to selected importers in the leading e-car markets of Norway and the Netherlands at the end of the year.

Production capacity already at the limit?

Patrick Danau, Managing Director of Audi Brussels, indicated in early October that the pace of production will reach full capacity by the end of this year. From his point of view, the maximum capacity of the e-tron in series production will have been reached by the end of the year.

When asked what this means in absolute numbers and what the full capacity of the Audi plant in Brussels is, which will also produce the Audi e-tron Sportback in 2019, there was no answer. It is also an open question whether the full capacity has now been reached.
