The Audi Grandsphere is much more than a concept study. The elegant prototype already shows a very concrete view of the successor to the Audi A8, which comes onto the market at the end of 2024.

It was one of these days that designers don’t always enjoy. It was about the successor to the Audi A8. A creative head cannot be said twice. The result: The Audi Grandsphere Concept study is on the IAA 2021 and gives a fairly specific view of the next generation of the Audi A8. At 75 to 80 percent, Marc Licht estimates the series maturity of the concept car, which has a remarkable presence with a length of 5.35 meters and a wheelbase of 3.19 meters. Audi’s new flagship, which is due to herald a new aegis at the turn of 2024/25, breaks with many conventions.

The Audi Grandsphere is basically a van with lots of space. An elegant vehicle, more gliders than Trutzburg. Wicks like the wide -out side windows, which suddenly rejuvenate inwards towards the roof and the striking rear spoiler result in a very good aerodynamics, which has an increase in range.

The GrandSphere is said to master the robo driving of the level 4 in the second half of the decade. Autonomous driving should become a reality

"We are still working on the implementation," Marc Lichte orders the technology. In the first step, the Audi Grandsphere will still be equipped with conventional monitors. However, the displays can not only be used for information on the speed or the remaining range, but also for video games, films or TV program.     Often the local automotive industry is being accused. They are no longer innovative and … would oversleep new technologies. That’s not true. Such studies prove that there has long been rethinking and one realizes that a change takes place. It’s not easy if you should switch from an established, proven technology like the combustioners to something new. Especially when nobody can say what actually moves the masses in 20 years. Our manufacturers do that really well for that. I am certainly also German manufacturers in the future.

    The IAA Munich is different from all Iaas so far. Conceptual & content. Their main message is: the future drives electrically and autonomously. The automotive industry itself has recognized that the car 1.0 no longer in the global value system of business & society in 21. Jh. fits. So she thinks everything new & does everything differently.
