The preparatory work for the construction of the cell factory has been underway since September, and an exciting rendering can already be seen on the Britishvolt website. Britishvolt apparently buys the production machines from the German machine builder Manz, which is also to set up battery production for BMW in Germany. Production is scheduled to start towards the end of 2023, initially at 4 GWh per year. Another scaling to 30 or 48 GWh is planned, here the sources are still apart. The peculiarity of the new GigaFabrik: The systems should be flexible to produce different cell formats and geometries, ie both cylindrical and prismatic cells of different sizes.

Uncertainty is still about the customer of first production. That it will be a British company is obvious. According to rumors, it should be Lotus.
