In March 2018, we have already learned that BMW will bring the BMW I4 as a pure electric car on the street. As part of the IAA 2017, this was still presented as BMW IVision Dynamics. Corresponding ErlkOnige were already spotted. First technical details were known a week ago. Now BMW lets himself look behind the scenes of the BMW I4.
BMW brings with the I4 the first purely electrically powered model for the premium middle class on the road. Like the BMW IX3, which comes 2020 on the road, the BMW i4 as well as the BMW inext 2021 on BMW EDRive of the fifth generation. Developed battery cell technology enables sporting performance and range of around 600 kilometers, so the statement of the German car manufacturer.
How to understand BMW is the BMW i4 as part of its own comprehensive product offensive in the field of models with electrified drive. This is currently strongly influenced by plug-in hybrid, but should shine through further pure E cars in the future. Currently, the plan is available in the room by the year 2023 25 models with electrified drive in the program.
BMW AG
For the BMW I4, the Bavarian car manufacturer sets an electric motor, which brings it to a maximum performance of around 390 kW / 530 hp. BMW itself draws the comparison to the burner and to understand that the I4 brings the level of a V8 engine in current BMW models with internal combustion engine. The first Gran Coupe of the brand BMW I accelerates in about 4.0 seconds from zero to 100 km / h and reaches a maximum speed of more than 200 km / h.
The version of the high-voltage battery developed for the BMW i4 is characterized by an extremely flat design and an optimized energy density. With a weight of around 550 kilograms, it has an energy content of around 80 kWh. Thus, the BMW i4 achieves a range of around 600 kilometers. Purely mathematically, the WLTP range of 600 km and the size of the battery on an energy consumption of 13.3 kWh / 100 km. The production of the new model takes place in the main plant of the company in Munich.
The BMW i4 is loaded with a charging power of up to 150 kW. This makes it possible to charge the lithium-ion battery of the E-car in about 35 minutes to about 80 percent of the complete energy content. This corresponds to a charging time of about six minutes for a range of 100 kilometers. Thus, BMW confirms the largest part of recent weekly information.
Until the series start in 2021 is still a little time. Stand today is planned that the BMW Group 2021 with the BMW I3, the Mini Electric, the BMW IX3 and the BMW i4 and the BMW Inext has five fully electrified models. By 2025, the number should rise to at least twelve models.

Love company BMW,
I drive since about. 30 years 3-he bmw, s with different motorizations and am still completely satisfied with this product.
I would like to acquire an electric vehicle in the foreseeable future.
Why not the i4 described here determines.
I do not need 500+ PS though it’s fun to have so much performance. That has to do with me with economy.
In addition, the vehicle weight of course increases when you build a vehicle with so much power or use very expensive carbon materials.
But what disturbs me mostly at this idea of vehicle is the lying fairy of consumption with 13.3 kWh / 100km.
Similar E vehicles are at 30 kWh / 100 km, the I3 already at 20 kWh / 100 km in real operation.
Such things make you uncertain and drive your customers to other manufacturers.
By the way, a friend of mine has at the Tesla Model 3 at 17000 km a real consumption or say what we were loaded in the car on average 19kWh / 100km. With the 70kWh battery.
Why can BMW not a mid-range vehicle electrically. And please remain credible.
And something else. Never give the battery capacity in ah (amper hours) without writing the operating voltage.
These two values would then be multiply: power (kW) time (h) gives work (kWh). thank you
How stupid you think is your customers.
So love development team. To work for a reasonable middle class vehicle with approx. 200 ps 50-75 kWh battery and different model variants. Limosine, Touring, Convertible, Coupe.
Then I remain faithful to the brand..
Regards
Nik
Since one can only hope that the data of the BMW i4 is not flopped, as with other E-cars … 2021 with a vehicle to come to the market that is located in the premium market and then stay at 400km and where Tesla in the area 600km would have arrived or maybe even higher for the German industry would be an embarrassing number.
Markus, if you want to save energy and money you are not in the best society at Tesla. These make other companies already cheaper today. At BMW, I miss the performance of your battery S for the new L 4. (600 km range) Sono has earned a reward for holding customers who do not know today if and whenever something comes with solar roof and attachment coupling.
Mark, ok I thought it was a 100 000 Euro Tesla. But congratulations to Model 3. I have another only 13 kWh needed at 100 km and loaded by an amortized PV plant from the roof with natural stream. At night I would have atom flow..
Financial blind flight, if the car is from the battery battery after 8 years, I deal with a rental battery. After 8 years of experience, one knows how electricity is still much, much cheaper than with a diesel. From air pollution with Euro 6, there is an ad Blue -Volksverdottum, very close.
