Chevrolet Unveils New Bolt and Bolt EUV - Available Summer 2021-available

Chevrolet has updated its electric vehicle portfolio. In mid-February 2021, the automaker is set to launch the new all-electric 2022 Bolt EUV and the redesigned 2022 Bolt EV. Both e-vehicles will be on the road as early as this summer. General Motors (GM) will thus bring the Stromer onto the market a year earlier than originally planned.

As GM’s Chevrolet brand indicates, both electric models feature a unique exterior design. With the Chevrolet Bolt EUV, the brand is responding to the increasing demand for SUVs and putting the Bolt on the road as such. Chevrolet is hoping for a similar success as the Bolt EV introduced in 2017, which gave the impetus to move more drivers towards e-mobility. Since its launch in 2017, more than 100 have been delivered worldwide.000 vehicles sold and has some of the best satisfaction and loyalty ratings in the industry. In the US, three-quarters of Bolt EV buyers are new GM customers, the company said in its release.

Touting the Bolt EUV, Chevrolet Vice President Steve Hill said, “The new Bolt EUV is the best of the Bolt EV, packaged in an SUV-like vehicle with more technology and features, giving customers more choice and reasons to to switch to electric power. This is an opportunity for Chevy to capitalize on the success we’ve built with the Bolt EV and bring new customers to the Chevy family.”

Chevrolet Bolt EUV / Bolt EV rely on proven technology

Both models rely on proven battery technology and therefore not on GM’s new Ultium platform. A 65 kWh lithium-ion battery is installed in the electric vehicles, which gives the Bolt EV a range of 416 km and the Bolt EVU a range of 402 km. The battery system also features Chevy’s proven active thermal management system, which uses coolant to keep the battery at its ideal operating temperature. The Stromer are driven by a single-motor drive unit, which provides 150 kW/200 hp and a maximum torque of 360 Nm. In addition, the so-called One Pedal Driving is possible. This enables the driver to accelerate, decelerate and even come to a standstill using only the accelerator pedal.

Progress in charging the two Stromers

In addition, GM wants to make charging its Stromer easier. For this purpose, the manufacturer relies on the new Dual Level Charge Cord, which makes it unnecessary for many customers to buy a separate charger for their home. It features an interchangeable plug that allows customers to connect a standard three-prong 120-volt outlet for Level 1 charging and a 240-volt outlet for Level 2 charging, up to 7.2 kilowatts. The new dual-level charging cable comes standard with the Bolt EUV and is also available for the Bolt EV.

For maximum Level 2 charging speed, both vehicles are now capable of charging with 11kW of Level 2 charging, but a separate charger is required. In addition, the Bolt eV can give rise to 160 km within 30 minutes up to 160 km and the Bolt EUV up to 152 km reach.

In addition to expanding the brand’s electric vehicle lineup, the Bolt EUV will also be the first Chevrolet vehicle to offer Super Cruise, the industry’s first true hands-free driver assistance system for cleared roads. The starting price for both vehicles is lower than that of the 2021 Bolt EV. The 2022 Bolt EUV costs from 33.$9953, the 2022 Bolt EV starts at 31.$9953 before any available state, local or utility incentives. Both will be available this summer. Hill categorizes the price reduction as follows: “We have reduced the base price of the Bolt EV by more than 5 compared to the 2021 model.000 dollars, demonstrating our commitment to making EVs affordable for everyone.”

A special, limited launch edition of the Bolt EUV is also available, featuring Super Cruise driver assistance, a sunroof, unique wheels, special emblems, and an illuminated 43-charger port.$4953. Customers can now reserve the Launch Edition online. Both models thus contribute promptly to GM’s e-mobility offensive.

  1. Of course you have to see: At the moment 75% (or more?) of German car buyers are not yet considering a BEV. But that seems normal to me in the start-up phase of a new technology. The process of transition from dominating combustion engine sales to dominating BEV sales will drag on for years. Do not worry. Staying power is required.

  2. If VW, Nissan, or Renault etc. standing, nobody would notice.
The design language and size is absolutely European/Japanese.
    Good contemporary pleasing BEV,s .
Fit in with the times and are sure to be successful.
There are of course more individual and exciting cars.
But GM is a volume manufacturer and tries to meet mainstream taste and sell as many units as possible.
