Why not sit in the front, even if you are driving with a chauffeur? In Dubai, a tuner has radically rebuilt the Nissan SUV Patrol. The steering wheel sits in the middle between the backrests of the front seats.

D.he McLaren F1 is not only legendary because only 106 units were built from 1993 onwards and in 2000 it set a speed record for production cars at 391 km / h.

The Woking supercar is also famous for its central seating position for the driver. The three-seater’s steering wheel is in the middle of the dashboard.

The technical approach has now been consistently developed. The silver-gray model of the fourth generation of the Nissan Patrol, which was remodeled in Dubai by the “King of Customs” tuning company, now has the steering wheel in the unusual middle position. The engineers in the Persian Gulf went one step further: They shifted the steering to the back seat.

Two monitors instead of airbags

The client is said to be an Arab businessman who is driven, but apparently still wants to enjoy the view from the front seat. Is also understandable: If you are already spending the money on a chauffeur, why are you only sitting in the second row? However, you don’t want the resourceful manager to have a rear-end collision. Because where the airbags are usually located, two monitors have now been installed.

So that the driver in the rear has something like a sufficient view of what is happening on the road, he must be in the middle position in the rear. The steering column was placed between the two front seats, the controls for the automatic system are on the right. The images from the cameras with all-round visibility functions, which are transmitted to the screens in the backrests of the front seats, are intended to give the chauffeur additional orientation.

Such conversions are not allowed in Germany, but in Dubai the approval of the bizarre SUV is not a problem, according to the “King of Customs”.
