The chairman of the PSPA Maciej Mazur emphasized in the monthly overview of the association that new record numbers were reached in the last months of the year. Jakub Faryś, Chairman of the Polish Association of the Automotive Industry (PZPM), sees the increase in sales of e-cars in connection with the state support program “Moj elektryk”. Just when the program was expanded to include leasing vehicles, but also to promote company-related charging infrastructure, the number of new registrations increased significantly. In November 2021 alone it was 1.108.

The sentiment barometer prepared by the PSPA for the year 2021/2022 examined the attitude of 6.000 Polish consumers to electric vehicles. It turned out that in the last 5 years, the proportion of consumers who can imagine buying an electric car has increased from 12% to 32%. This goes hand in hand with a growing sensitivity to climate issues. The e-car has now become the epitome of climate-friendly and individual mobility. The many new and attractive vehicle models were mentioned as further arguments in favor of electric vehicles. However, the decisive factor for interest in buying was familiarity with electric cars. While only 6% of respondents had an opportunity to drive an electric car in 2017, this percentage rose to almost 20%.

“The proportion of drivers who want to buy an electric car increases with the number of people who have driven an electric vehicle. This study confirms our observations – anyone who has had the opportunity to drive an electric car will no longer want to get out of it. This is also reflected in a series of surveys looking at the future of low-emission vehicles for the automotive industry. Of course, there are still certain barriers to the development of electric mobility for consumers, but there are no problems that cannot be overcome – both range development and charging station network are growing rapidly,” commented Radosław Kitala from Consulting & Arval Mobility Observatory Manager Arval Service Lease Polska. His company leases vehicles to corporate customers. It is precisely leasing that makes up the majority of the market for new vehicles in Poland. Less than a third of new car buyers are private customers. Therefore, company owners in particular, but also leasing companies, have to be convinced of the advantages of an electric car.

One of the central arguments remains the purchase price. Here, however, only 22% of those surveyed still saw an unfavorable price imbalance on the part of the electric vehicles. In 2017, almost half of those surveyed shared this view. Experts see a positive effect of the state purchase premium, which in Poland varies between 3 and 30 percent depending on the purchase price.800-6.136 euros and relieves the buyer accordingly.
