The fact that electric cars basically have a better life cycle assessment than burners should actually be undisputed. Because several studies conclude that the CO2 balance of a stromer is better over the entire lifetime than those of diesel and petrol. A recent study of the Free University of Brussels, on behalf of the Denkfabrik Transport & Environment (T&E) emerged, proves now: even a high coal flow content such as in Poland can not shake that the electric drive is the most environmentally friendly.

The scientists have considered the complete life cycle of an electric car in their study, including its production, energy-intensive battery production and total energy consumption, and compared with a diesel vehicle.

The result of the study: Electric cars cause 45 percent less emissions in Germany such as diesel vehicles. Even in Poland, a country with a high carbon power supply, the climate balance of streams is better by a quarter. In the EU section, the researchers come to a CO2 balance of 90 grams per kilometer, 55 percent less than a diesel vehicle and today under the CO2 limit of 2021, the automaker must meet with their new car fleet at this time.

Even better, the balance sheet for electric cars falls off if the share of renewable energies is higher in electricity. In Sweden, for example, which produces a lot of electricity from alternative energy sources, the CO2 emission of an electric car over the lifetime is less than 40 grams per kilometer. Even the most economical diesel is miles away.

Also the fear of shortage of important raw materials for battery production such as cobalt or lithium is unfounded. The availability of these important metals is not restricted “in the coming decades”. In addition, future battery technologies would require less natural raw materials.

  1. Who believes. The production of the batteries is the main problem. That’s anything but environmentally friendly. And after a few years, the performance is dramatic (according to manufacturers up to 40% in 5 years) and are sometimes broken. Then ends when the batteries are not much cheaper the car in the scrap.

The used car prices are likely to be quite small in the last lifecycle. Who then has after 7-8 years of desire to pay with a car with 1000 Euro residual value 10000 euros for batteries with installation?

But that’s wanted. The economy should run. And the diesel keep too long.

But listen to me with the environment. It’s not about that.

Note: Jesdes not built car is a plus for the environment. And not disposable cars ..
