Rivian R1T is already here, Hummer deliveries will start in 2021, the Silverado EV will be at CES, other models will follow
The electrification of US pick-ups is slowly gaining traction: the Rivian R1T is already on the market, and delivery of GM's Hummer EV is set to start this year.
At the beginning of January, the group presented a second model, the Silverado EV. The Tesla Cybertruck and the Ford F-150 Lightning are also about to go into production. We give an overview.
Apparently the first model to hit the market this fall was the Rivian R1T; the first car with four electric wheel hub motors rolled off the assembly line in mid-September. The second model to be launched is probably the GMC Hummer EV. Factory Zero was officially opened in mid-November in the presence of US President Biden, and series production of the Hummer EV began at the end of November and delivery is scheduled to begin in December.

GM has invested $ 2.2 billion in Factory Zero. The factory is located about three miles north of downtown Detroit in Hamtranck. In addition to the Hummer EV (model year 2022), the Hummer EV SUV will also be there (Model year 2024), the Chevrolet Silverado EV (presumably model year 2022) and the electric shuttle Cruise Origin will all be built on GM's Ultium platform.
The Chevrolet Silverado EV will be presented on January 5, 2022 at the US electronics fair CES, as has already been officially announced. The electric pick-up will not be built until the beginning of 2023, as recently became known.

Tesla is also about to launch its Cybertruck. The electric pick-up is built in the new Gigafactory in Austin / Texas. Elon Musk originally planned to start production in 2021, but apparently the factory is not yet ready and ramping up production could take most of 2022, Tesla said. According to this, the Cybertruck will probably start in 2022, but when exactly is still unclear.

Another big player will be launched in spring with the Ford F-150 Lightning. The car was presented in May 2019, the market launch.First copies have already been tested. The car will be built at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Dearborn. This means that the Ford will be produced less than 15 kilometers away from GM's Factory Zero.

Another electric pick-up is the Bollinger B2, which was presented in 2019. The car is based on the same platform as the corresponding SUV called B1. The very angular models have an electric motor per axle as standard, the electricity is supplied by a battery with 120 or 180 kWh. According to the American manufacturer's FAQ website, production is slated to begin at the end of 2022, So delivery is unlikely to start before 2023.
