Dacia Spring Electric
The electric SUV from Dacia has been available to order since March and delivery began in autumn. With a length of just 3.73 meters and prices starting at just under 22,000 euros, the Dacia Spring is not only the smallest, but also the cheapest electric SUV on the market. After deducting the environmental bonus, only about 12,000 euros remain. This also makes the electric Dacia the cheapest electric car at the moment. However, probably also the least secure.
The four-seater is powered by an electric motor on the front axle with just 33 kW; so the car needs around 19 seconds to reach 100 km / h and is not very fast with a maximum of 125 km / h. The 27 kWh battery should enable a range of 230 kilometers according to WLTP. Charging is carried out with a maximum of 6.6 kW alternating current, with direct current only optional.
- Base price: 21,790 euros (Comfort equipment)
- Drive: 1 electric motor (PSM) at the front with 33 kW peak (30 min power: 19 kW)
- 0-100 km / h / Vmax: 19.1 seconds / 125 km / h
- Battery / range: 27 kWh gross / 230 km WLTP
- Charging: up to 6.6 kW AC, optionally up to 30 kW DC
- Dimensions: 3.73 m length / 2.42 m wheelbase / 1.51 m height
- Trunk: 270-1,100 liters
- Market opening: autumn 2021
- As of December 22, 2021

DS 3 Crossback E-Tense
The DS 3 Crossback is a small SUV that is also available as an electric model. The basis is the smaller of the two PSA platforms: the electrified Common Module Platform (eCMP). The car measures 4.12 meters in length.
It is powered by the same 100 kW electric motor and the same 50 kWh battery as in the Opel Corsa-e and Mokka-e, Peugeot e-208 and e-2008 and Co. The range (320 km) is also similar . The small DS shares the drive and platform with many PSA models, but is significantly more expensive. Prices start at around 39,000 euros.
- Base price: 38,690 euros (So Chic equipment)
- Drive: 1 electric motor at the front with 100 kW peak, 57 kW 30-min power, 260 Nm
- 0-100 km / h / top speed: 9.1 seconds / 150 km / h
- Battery / range: 50 kWh / 320 km WLTP
- Charging: up to 11 kW AC, up to 100 kW DC
- Dimensions: 4.12 meters long / 1.53 meters high / 2.56 meters wheelbase
- Trunk: 350-1,050 liters

Opel Mokka-e
The Opel Mokka with electric drive started in March 2021. The drive is the same as in the other models based on the eCMP platform: an electric motor with 100 kW drives the front axle, the 50 kWh battery is supposed to provide a range of 338 kilometers WLTP standard.
Prices start at around 34,000 euros; this means that the car is a mere 5,000 euros cheaper than the DS 3 Crossback despite the same drive system. Nevertheless, LED headlights, the two 7-inch displays and traffic sign recognition are also on board, but the wheels are smaller (16 instead of 17 inches).
- Base price: 34,110 euros (equipment edition)
- Drive: E-motor at the front with 100 kW and 260 Nm
- 0-100 km / h / top speed: 9.0 seconds / 150 km / h
- Battery / range: 50 kWh / 338 km WLTP
- Charging: up to 7 kW AC (optional 11 kW), up to 100 kW DC

Kia e-Soul
Since the last generation change in Europe, the Kia Soul is only available with an electric drive. Two versions are available: the basic version with 100 kW and 39 kWh battery creates 276 km according to the NEDC, the motorization with 150 kW and 64 kWh, however, 450 km.
The prices have increased significantly compared to February; at that time they started at 33,990 euros, now the e-Soul costs at least 38,090 euros. The version with the long range costs 42,390 euros instead of 37,790 euros.
- Base price: 38,090 euros (100 kW Vision) or 42,390 euros (150 kW Vision)
- Electric drive: 1 electric motor (PSM) at the front with 100 kW or 150 kW
- 0-100 km / h / top speed: 9.9 or 7.9 km / h / 157 or 167 km / h

Hyundai Kona Electric
The facelift from the beginning of 2021 was good for Kona Elektro, and for our taste it has become significantly more chic. The new version is characterized by the loading opening on the front. As before, there are two variants to choose from, one with a range of 100 kW and 305 km and one with a range of 150 kW and 484 km.
What is new is that the more expensive version is now available as an equipment package – probably in order to receive maximum funding. In fact, only Kona models with net prices below 30,000 euros are currently on the BAFA list. The Hyundai price list starts at just under 36,000 euros; the 150 kW version costs 6,200 euros extra, so you end up with just under 42,000 euros.
- Base price: 35,650 euros (100 kW and 305 km range)
- Drive: 1 electric motor at the front with 100 kW or 150 kW
- Battery: 39 or 64 kWh
- Range: 305 or 484 km WLTP
- Charging: up to 11 kW AC, up to 100 kW DC (only with 150 kW version)
- Length / height: 4.21 meters / 1.57 meters
- Trunk: 332-1,114 liters
- Market opening: end of January 2021

Peugeot e-2008
Despite the same platform, the Peugeot e-2008 is around 15 centimeters longer than the Opel Mokka and the DS 3 Crossback. The overhangs in particular are longer, but the wheelbase is also slightly larger: 2.61 meters compared to 2.56 meters for the Opel and DS. The eCMP platform is therefore flexible. Due to the larger dimensions, the trunk is also significantly more voluminous than that of the DS and Opel.
The drive with 100 kW motor at the front and the 50 kWh battery is known from the other eCMP models. Prices start at around 35,500 euros; they are around 1,500 euros higher than for the Opel. The chic 3D instrument display in the lush 10-inch size is not yet on board.
- Base price: 35,450 euros (Active equipment)
- Drive: 1 electric motor (PSM) at the front with 100 kW, 260 Nm
- 0-100 km / h / top speed: 9.0 seconds / 150 km / h
- Battery / range: 50 kWh gross / 330-342 km WLTP
- Charging: up to 11 kW AC, up to 100 kW DC

MG ZE EV facelift
Only on the market since the beginning of 2021, MG’s small SUV will receive a facelift from the end of October. The look changes significantly; above all, the chrome grill disappears.
But technology is also being improved. The main disadvantage is eliminated, the range of only 263 km. Instead, up to 440 km are possible in the future. As far as crash safety is concerned, you don’t have to worry because the ZS received the maximum rating of five stars in the EuroNCAP test.
- Base price: 33,990 euros
- Drive: 1 electric motor (PSM) with 105 kW (143 PS) and 353 Nm
- 0-100 km / h / top speed: 8.2 seconds / 140 km / h
- Battery / range: 51 or 72 kWh / 320 or 440 km WLTP
- Charging: up to 11 kW AC, up to 100 kW DC
- Length: 4.31 meters
- Trunk: 448-1,116 liters

Citroen e-C4
The Citroen e-C4 is the largest SUV based on eCMP – if you want to call the car an SUV. Despite the small car platform, the manufacturer divides the model into the compact segment. The size fits, because the C4 is around 10 centimeters longer than the Peugeot 308.
The drive is the same as in the eCMP vehicles from DS, Opel and Peugeot. However, the base price is around a thousand lower than that of Peugeot.
- Base price: 34,640 euros (Feel equipment)
- Drive: 1 electric motor at the front with 100 kW
- 0-100 km / h / top speed: 9.7 seconds / 150 km / h
- Battery / range: 50 kWh / 350 km WLTP
- Charging: 11 kW AC, 100 kW DC

Kia e-Niro
At 4.38 meters, the electric version of the Kia Niro is 18 centimeters longer than the e-Soul. The drives (with 100 and 150 kW) are the same, and the ranges are practically identical.
The cheaper versions are currently not available; the version with the long range (455 km) now costs 39,090 euros. The basic engine (with a range of 289 km) is available from 38,290 euros. The basic Vision version is now 3,000 euros more expensive than at the beginning of the year, when Edition 7 was the basis. But the successor seems to be scratching his feet. Allegedly it will start in 2022.
- Base price: 38,290 euros (39 kWh / 100 kW Vision) or 42,790 euros (64 kWh / 150 kW Vision)
- Drive: 1 electric motor at the front with 100 kW or 150 kW
- Range: 289 or 455 km ("according to the prescribed measuring method")
- Charging: up to 7.2 kW AC (optional 11 kW), up to 100 kW DC

Mazda MX-30
Mazda’s first electric car is called the MX-30, but it has nothing to do with the MX-5 – the car is an SUV, not a roadster. For us, the policy of Mazda is even stranger, which is content with a range of 237 kilometers. This means that the MX-30 should at most be suitable as a second car.
For this type of use, however, the 4.40 meter long car is quite large and expensive: prices start at just under 35,000 euros. As a second car, a small electric car for 30,000 euros is more suitable, depending on the requirements. A special feature of the MX-30 are the suicide doors at the rear, which are reminiscent of the Mazda RX-8 (which expired in 2012).
- Base price: 34,490 euros
- Drive: 1 electric motor at the front with 107 kW and 271 Nm
- 0-100 km / h / top speed: 9.7 seconds / 140 km / h
- Battery / range: 36 kWh gross / 237 km (without specification of the standard)
- Length / height: 4.40 meters / 1.56 meters
- Trunk: 366-1,171 liters
- Market opening: September 25, 2020

Volvo XC40 Recharge Pure Electric
Like the MX-30, Volvo’s electric XC40 is an electric debut, but it’s much more potent than the Mazda. The Recharge Pure Electric stands next to the Recharge (with plug-in hybrid drive) and the conventionally powered XC40 versions.
The XC40 with all-electric drive has been available in two versions since September. There was also a variant with a 170 kW front-wheel drive and 67 kWh battery for around 49,000 euros. The all-wheel drive variant with two 150 kW electric motors and a 75 kWh battery for around 59,000 euros remains in the range. Both have a range of around 400 km.
- Base price: 48,650 euros
- Drive: 1 electric motor at the front with 170 kW or 2 electric motors with 150 kW each
- System output: 170 or 300 kW
- 0-100 km / h / top speed: 7.4 or 4.9 seconds / 160 or 180 km / h

Volvo C40 Recharge Pure Electric
On March 2nd, Volvo unveiled its second electric car. The car is called the C40 Recharge Pure Electric, and if you want you could add a P8 AWD. But it’s basically the coupe SUV version of the XC40 Pure Electric.
The drive (via two 150 kW motors) and the range (around 420 km) are the same as with the XC40. Unlike this, the C40 is only offered with an electric drive. Production started at the beginning of October 2021, and prices start at around 62,000 euros.
- Base price: 62,050 euros
- Drive: 2 electric motors with 150 kW and 330 Nm each
- System output: 300 kW
- 0-100 km / h / top speed: 4.9 seconds / 180 km / h

Ssangyong Korando e-Motion
SsangYong plans to launch an electric SUV in early 2022. The Korando e-Motion is, like the combustion models, 4.45 meters long. A 140 kW electric motor provides the drive, the electricity comes from a 62 kWh battery. So the car should create 339 km according to the WLTP standard.
There is no information on the charging capacity, but the battery should be able to be charged from 20 to 80 percent in around 33 minutes via the CCS connection. Prices start at 38,990 euros.
- Drive: 1 electric motor with 140 kW
- Battery / range: 62 kWh / 339 km WLTP
- Dimensions: 4.45 meters length / 1.62 meters height / 2.68 meters wheelbase
- Trunk: N / A.

Mercedes EQA
In terms of size, the compact EQA competes more with the Volvo XC40 than with the VW ID.4. The car is visibly based on the conventionally powered GLA – on the new version, which is significantly higher than the old one.
At the start there was only the EQA 250 with 140 kW front-wheel drive and a range of 426 kilometers for around 48,000 euros. Since May 2021, two all-wheel-drive versions have also been available that primarily drive the rear axle: the EQA 300 4Matic with 168 kW and the EQA 350 4Matic with 215 kW. Both get the same 67 kWh battery as the front-wheel drive. A version with a range of 500 kilometers has also been announced, but details are not yet known.
- Base price: 47,541 euros (EQA 250)
- Drive: 1 electric motor at the front (ASM) with 140 kW or 2 electric motors (ASM / PSM)
- System output: 140 or 168 or 215 kW
- 0-100 km / h: 8.9 seconds / 160 km / h (EQA 250)
- Battery / range: 67 kWh net / 428 km WLTP (EQA 250)

Lexus UX 300e
The Lexus UX 300e was launched on January 11, 2021. Like its conventionally powered brothers, the 4.50 meter long compact SUV is based on the TNGA platform in the version for the compact C-segment (TNGA-C).
A 150 kW electric motor on the front axle provides propulsion. The energy is provided by a 54 kWh battery. It ensures a range of 315 kilometers. Charging is not exactly quick for a premium car: with alternating current only 6.6 kW are possible, with direct current only 50 kW. Prices start at just under 44,000 euros. This dropped the price by around 3,000 euros compared to January. However, the UX 300e is currently not configurable on the Lexus website; only leasing is offered.
- Base price: 43,540 euros
- Drive: 1 electric motor at the front with 150 kW and 300 Nm
- 0-100 km / h / top speed: 7.5 seconds / 160 km / h
- Battery / range: 54 kWh / 315 km WLTP
- Charging: up to 6.6 kW AC, up to 50 kW DC

Genesis GV60
The Genesis GV60 is not yet on the market. Like newcomer, it is not yet on the homepage of the brand that was only launched in summer 2021 and belongs to the Hyundai-Kia group. Like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and the Kia EV6, the car is based on the E-GMP electric platform and thus has an 800-volt battery system. At 4.52 meters in length, the Genesis is the smallest car in the E-GMP trio.
Three engines have been announced: a 168 kW rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive with 234 or 380 kW (in boost mode). So the top version is not quite as powerful as the Kia EV6 GT with 430 kW. The large 77 kWh battery from the Kia EV6 is used exclusively for energy storage. A lot of technical data is still missing, as well as information on prices and market launch.
- Base price: n / a.
- Drives: 1 rear electric motor with 168 kW or all-wheel drive with 234 or 380 kW
- Battery: 77 kWh
- Range: up to 451 km (WLTP)

VW ID.4
The ID.4 was temporarily available in five versions: the basic Pure model with a 52 kWh battery and 109 or 125 kW rear-wheel drive, the Pro with a 77 kWh battery and a choice of 125 or 150 kW rear-wheel drive and the GTX -Version with a 220 kW four-wheel drive. At the end of 2021, there are only two 125 kW versions left: one with a small and one with a large battery.
The basic version can only be charged with 7.2 kW alternating current or 50 kW direct current as standard; 110 kW are possible as an option. At 345 kilometers, it already has a decent range. With the large battery, 517 kilometers and charging capacities of 11 or 125 kW are possible.
- Base price: 38,915 euros (ID.4 Pure 125 kW)
- Drive: 1 rear electric motor with 125 kW
- Battery: 52 or 77 kWh net
- WLTP range: 345 km (Pure) / 517 km (Pro)

VW ID.5
The coupe-like version of the ID.4 is in preparation. The external dimensions are practically identical to those of the ID.4, and surprisingly even the trunk volume is almost the same. But at least for the market launch, the ID.4 basic engine with 109 kW and 52 kWh battery is missing. All ID.5 versions have the large 77 kWh battery and thus a range of around 500 km.
E-motors on the rear axle with 128 or 150 kW provide propulsion. The all-wheel drive variant GTX also has a front engine and thus comes to a total of 220 kW. Prices and market launch date are not yet known.
- Base price: not yet known
- Drive: E-motor at the rear with 125 or 150 kW or 2 motors with a total of 220 kW (GTX)
- Battery / range: 77 kWh / approx. 500 km WLTP

Audi Q4 e-tron
The Q4 e-tron presented in April is the Audi equivalent of VW ID.4 and Skoda Enyaq. Originally only three engines were announced (two rear-wheel drive and one all-wheel drive), in July the 45 e-tron quattro with 195 kW was added, which is not available in the ID.4.
As with the ID.4, batteries with 52 and 77 kWh are used, although only the basic version 35 e-tron has the small battery (and lower charging capacities). The 58 kWh battery from the Enyaq is not planned, nor is the 109 kW base motor. The rear-wheel drive car produces 125 or 150 kW, the all-wheel drive 195 or 220 kW. The longest-range version is the Q4 40 e-tron for 47,500 euros, which is supposed to cover up to 521 km according to WLTP.
- Base price: 41,900 euros (Q4 35 e-tron)
- Drive: 1 PSM at the rear, optionally 1 ASM at the front
- System output: 125/150 kW for RWD, 195/220 kW for AWD
- Battery / range: 52 or 77 kWh net / 341 to 521 km WLTP

The coupe-like version of the Q4 e-tron is two centimeters lower and also has a better drag coefficient (0.26 instead of 0.28). The range is a little longer than that of the normal Q4 e-tron.
In terms of engines, however, the 45 e-tron quattro, i.e. the weaker of the two all-wheel drive vehicles, has so far been missing. The prices for the Sportback start at 43,900 euros, which means an extra charge of 2,000 euros compared to the standard version. The market launch was announced for late autumn – so the car is likely to start at the moment (in November).
- Base price: 43,900 euros (Q4 Sportback 35 e-tron)
- Drive: 1 PSM rear with 125/150 kW or all-wheel drive (ASM / PSM) with 220 kW
- Battery / range: 52 or 77 kWh net / 349 or 497 km WLTP
- Dimensions: 4.59 meters Length / 1.61 meters height

Nissan Ariya
The Nissan Ariya was supposed to start in mid-2021, but the start was postponed due to the global chip shortage. Hardly any car will come to us before 2022. At 4.59 meters in length, the Ariya is practically the same size as the ID.4, but has a coupe-SUV look and looks less sober than the VW.
Five versions have been announced, including front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive models with different performance levels and battery sizes. The basic version with its 64 kWh battery covers around 360 kilometers, the electric motor has an output of 160 kW. The second front-wheel drive has an 87 kWh battery and covers around 500 km on one charge. The other three versions are all-wheel drive with 64 or 87 kWh, although the all-wheel drive with a large battery will also be available in a performance version. In Europe, it is charged via a CCS connection. There is still no information on prices or the market launch date.
- Base price: not yet known
- Drive: E-motor at the front with 160 kW and 300 Nm (basic version)
- Battery / range of the basic version: 64 kWh / 360 km (without specifying the cycle)
- Charging: up to 22 kW AC, up to 130 kW DC
- Length / height: 4.59 meters / 1.66 meters
- Trunk: 466 liters, maximum volume not yet known

Toyota bZ4X
At the end of October, Toyota presented the production version of the bZ4X and, in addition to pictures, also revealed the most important data. The car should be about as long as a RAV4, i.e. about 4.60 meters, but 85 mm less high.
Two versions have been announced, one with front-wheel drive (rare in this segment) and an AWD variant. Both have a 71 kWh battery for a range of around 450 km and the system performance is almost the same. The Subaru Solterra will probably have similar data, because it is based on the same platform.
- Drive: 1 electric motor at the front with 150 kW or all-wheel drive with 2 x 80 = 160 kW
- Battery / range: 71 kWh / approx. 450 km
- Length / height: approx. 4.60 meters / approx. 1.60 meters
- Trunk: 452 liters, maximum volume not yet known
- As of November 4, 2021

Subaru Solterra
On November 11th, Subaru unveiled its first electric car: the Solterra. The car measures 4.69 meters and competes against the Ford Mustang Mach-E and VW ID.4.
As with the practically identical Toyota bZ4X – the cars were developed together – there will be two versions, one with 150 kW front-wheel drive and an AWD version with two 80 kW. Both have a 71 kWh battery for around 450 km of range. Market launch is in mid-2022. Initially, the charging capacity with alternating current will apparently only be 6.6 kW, but at least Toyota is promising an 11 kW charger by the end of 2022. The prices are not yet known.
- Drive: 1 electric motor at the front with 150 kW or all-wheel drive with 2 x 80 = 160 kW
- Battery / range: 71 kWh / approx. 450 km
- Charging: up to 6.6 kW AC (later probably 11 kW), up to 150 kW DC
- Length / height: approx. 4.60 meters / approx. 1.60 meters
- As of November 11, 2021

Hyundai Ioniq 5
The Hyundai electric champion was unveiled in February and is based (like the Kia EV6 and the Genesis QV60) on the electric platform E-GMP. Since it works with 800-volt technology, charging with direct current works particularly quickly: Similar to the Porsche Taycan, it only takes 18 minutes to bring the battery from 10 to 80 percent.
The Ioniq 5 is available with two batteries (58 and 73 kWh) and with rear-wheel and all-wheel drive. This results in four variants, from the 125 kW basic version with rear-wheel drive and 58 kWh battery to the 225 kW top all-wheel drive version with 73 kWh battery. The data thus coincide roughly with those of the VW Group drives. The version with the longest range (160 kW RWD with 73 kWh) should create 481 km. Prices start at 41,900 euros.
- Base price: 41,900 euros
- Drive: 1 or 2 electric motors, rear or all-wheel drive, 125 kW to 225 kW

Aiways U5
The Aiways U5 was launched on the German market in October 2020. At 4.68 meters, it is practically as long as the MG Marvel R Electric. An electric motor on the front axle with 150 kW provides the drive; the 63 kWh battery should enable 410 kilometers at a time.
One of the special features is sales via the electronics dealer Euronics, where you can also test drive the car. According to the website, the U5 is available from 35,993 euros, but the manufacturer’s bonus of 3,000 euros has already been deducted. The price after funding is 29,993 euros. If you add the 9,570 euros, it actually starts at 39,563 euros. For comparison: A Skoda Enyaq 60 with 132 kW and 412 km range costs 38,850 euros. So the U5 is not a cheap home.
- Base price: 39,563 euros (standard equipment, before funding)
- Drive: 1 electric motor at the front with 150 kW and 310 Nm
- Battery / range: 63 kWh / 410 km WLTP

Mercedes EQB
The EQB is the big brother of the EQA, it is 22 centimeters longer. But the drives should be the same. The 300 4Matic with 168 kW and the 350 4Matic with 215 kW have been confirmed. A front-wheel drive is to follow (presumably an EQB 250 with 140 kW) and a version with more range is also promised, presumably with a larger battery. At the market launch there is only the 67 kWh battery known from the EQA, which enables 419 km.
At 4.68 meters, the EQB is as long as a Jaguar I-Pace or Kia EV6. However, the model has a very angular rear and is optionally available as a seven-seater. Market launch should be in 2021.
- Base price: not yet known
- Drives: at the start 2 electric motors (ASM at the front, PSM at the rear) with a total of 168 or 215 kW
- Battery / range: 67 kWh net / 419 km
- Charging: up to 11 kW AC, up to 100 kW DC

Kia EV6
In March 2021, Kia presented the new EV6. The SUV is the counterpart to the Ioniq 5, but has flowing, aerodynamic shapes – similar to the later but smaller Genesis GV60. All three models are based on the E-GMP platform and have the same 800-volt system.
As with Hyundai, the small battery has 58 kWh and is only used in the basic version. All other variants have a 77 kWh battery – like the Genesis, but different from Hyundai, where a 73 kWh battery is used. This leads to a little more range for the Kia (up to 528 km). Unlike Hyundai, there is also a super powerful GT version with 430 kW.
- Base price: 44,990 euros
- Drive: RWD with 125/168 kW, AWD with 239/430 kW
- Battery / range: 58 or 77 kWh / up to 528 km WLTP
- Charging: up to 11 kW AC, up to 180 kW DC (small battery) or 240 kW (large battery)

Ford Mustang Mach-E
The first newer electric car from Ford is (besides the E-Transit) the Mustang Mach-e. It only has the name and a few design elements in common with the Mustang. Three basic versions are offered, the Mach-E with rear-wheel drive, the Mach-E AWD with all-wheel drive and the top version GT (also with AWD). The GT always has the extended range battery with 88 kWh, all others can also be ordered with 68 kWh.
The 198 kW basic version with a range of 440 kilometers costs 47,500 euros according to the price list. But Ford has already started with its usual promotional prices and offers the car from 43,930 euros – so you save almost 3,600 euros. The version with the longest range (610 kilometers) is currently available for 51,775 instead of the regular 54,750 euros. The cheapest all-wheel drive version is also available for the same price.
- Base price: 43,930 euros (Mach-E Standard Range, special offer)
- Drive: 1 rear electric motor with 198/216 kW or all-wheel drive with 198/258/358 kW

Aiways U6
After the U5, Aiways also wants to bring the U6 to Europe, so also to us. Market launch in Europe is scheduled for the beginning of 2022. Presumably, like the U5, the car will then be offered via Euronics. The car is said to be 52 millimeters longer than the U5, i.e. 4.73 meters. The drag coefficient is given as 0.26.
For us, the car ranks somewhere between a coupe SUV and a hatchback sedan (a la Polestar 2). The drive and battery should be the same as in the U5. Then the range will also be around 400 km and prices should start a little over 40,000 euros.
- Base price: not yet known
- Drive: probably as with U5 (1 electric motor at the front with 150 kW)
- Battery: probably as with U5 (63 kWh / approx. 410 km WLTP)
- Length / height: 4.73 meters / not specified.
- Market launch: early 2022

BMW iX3
With the iX3, BMW also has a mid-range SUV with a purely electric drive on offer. The electric version of the X3 can be identified by various blue details and a closed grill. Prices start at 67,300 euros.
Oddly enough, the car doesn’t have all-wheel drive, but rear-wheel drive. Does BMW want to push an all-wheel drive version with more power? We do not know it. In any case, the range of 460 km is decent.
- Base price: 67,300 euros (Inspiring equipment)
- Drive: 1 rear electric motor with 210 kW and 400 Nm
- 0-100 km / h / top speed: 6.8 seconds / 180 km / h

Tesla Model Y
The Tesla Model Y is a crossover car based on the Model 3. The same three drives were originally planned, but the rear-wheel drive version has been removed from the configurator. The market launch was also postponed – from the beginning of 2021, then to summer 2021. The cars currently being delivered come from China, not from Grunheide.
The prices currently start at just under 60,000 euros, although the manufacturer’s share of the environmental bonus of 2,500 euros net has already been deducted. For this you get the "Maximum Range" version with all-wheel drive and 507 km WLTP range. There is also the "Performance" version with better acceleration, but only 480 km range for around 65,000 euros.
- Base price: 60,470 euros ("maximum range" with all-wheel drive)
- Drive: 2 electric motors, system output 245 kW ("Maximum range", according to Wikipedia)

Mercedes EQC
The 4.76 meter long Mercedes EQC is based on the conventionally powered Mercedes GLC: the wheelbase is exactly the same and the EQC is built on the same production line. Like the competition from Audi and Jaguar (but unlike the rear-wheel drive BMW iX3), the car has two electric motors, one per axle.
Together this results in 300 kW. The range is up to 437 kilometers and thus remains well behind VW – and even more behind the Tesla Model Y, which manages up to 507 km. The prices were initially significantly higher than those of Tesla; they started at around 71,000 euros, while the Model Y is available from around 60,000 euros. In January, Mercedes lowered the base price by around 5,000 euros. Even so, the car is around 10 percent more expensive than the Tesla, with a significantly shorter range.
- Base price: 66,069 euros
- Drive: 2 electric motors with a total of 300 kW and 760 Nm
- 0-100 km / h / top speed: 5.1 seconds / 180 km / h
- Battery / range: 80 kWh net / 400 km WLTP

Three versions have been announced, the xDrive40 with 240 kW and 425 km range, the xDrive50 with 385 kW and 630 km range and (for later) an iX M60 with 440 kW and a still unknown range. Tesla Model X
Tesla classifies the Model X as an SUV, but the car also has van elements. At 5.04 meters and a base price of over 110,000 euros, it definitely belongs in the luxury class, and it is currently the largest SUV with an electric drive. The car can carry up to 2,180 liters of luggage. Versions with six or seven seats are available at an additional cost. The rear wing doors are another special feature.
The facelift announced at the beginning of 2021 brings only a few changes on the outside, but the cockpit now looks completely different. The range of drives has also changed: the basic version (originally called Maximum Range, since November 2021 has only been called Model X) sprints to 100 km / h faster, namely in 3.9 seconds. the The performance version was replaced by a plaid version (117,970 euros) with three electric motors and a total of 1,020 hp. The car sprints to 100 km / h in an impressive 2.6 seconds and has a range of 536 kilometers.
- Base price: 111,970 euros (Model X with 2 motors)
- Drive: 2 or 3 electric motors
- 0-100 km / h / top speed: 3.9 or 2.6 seconds / 250 or 262 km / h

Rivian R1S
The Rivian R1S is the SUV version of the R1T pick-up. It offers seven seats. The drives are the same, i.e. there are three batteries with 105, 135 and 180 kWh – the latter is one of the largest batteries on the market. The corresponding ranges are 400, 480 or 660 km (without standard specification, presumably according to EPA standard).
Four wheel hub motors of 147 kW provide the drive. However, the system output is 300, 562 or 522 kW, depending on the version. That means: the version with the largest battery does not have quite as much power as the one with the medium battery. The US market launch is scheduled for December 2021. Then only the 480 km version will be sold for the time being, at a price of 70,000 dollars.
- Base price: $ 70,000 (562 kW, 135 kWh battery)
- Drive: 4 wheel hub motors a 147 kW, 3 different versions
- 0-100 km / h / top speed: 3.0 to 4.9 seconds / 200 km / h
- Battery / range: 105 or 135 or 180 kWh / 400 to 660 km
- Length / height: 5.13 meters / 1.83 meters
- Market opening: December 2021 (USA)

VinFast VF e36 – 1
The Vinfast VF e36 is the larger model of the Vietnamese brand; like the e35, it should be launched in Germany in 2022. The brand, headed by ex-Opel boss Michel Lohscheller, has already revealed the basic data. The car will then compete in the upper middle class; At 5.21 meters, it is longer than all the other models in this overview.
The two electric motors deliver a total output of 402 hp, i.e. 296 kW. The 106 kWh battery provides a range of 550 km. We’ll find out more about the Los Angeles Auto Show at the end of November; there the two models are presented again.
- Drive: 2 electric motors with a total of 296 kW
- Battery / range: 106 kWh / 550 km
- Length / height: 5.21 meters / not specified.

The electric cars with the greatest range
We have updated our market overview of electric SUVs. It now contains all cars on the German market, from the Dacia Spring Electric to the Tesla Model X. We have also included announced models such as the Nissan Ariya or the Fisker Ocean as well as interesting US models such as the Rivian R1S. Studies like the VW ID.Life, the Mercedes-Maybach EQS or the Smart SUV Concept # 1 however, are not included. Our market overview is arranged according to length.
Of course, we also include the new models and additional information. The last changes were:
- Audi Q4 e-tron with a fourth engine
- Volvo C40 price
- MG ZS EV facelift
- VW ID.5
- Genesis GV60: re-launch
- Toyota bZ4X: production version
- Vinfast VF e35 and e36
- Subaru Solterra (November 11th)
- Ssangyong Korando e-Motion (December 28th)
- VW ID.4: engines (December 28th)
One more word on the subject of "SUV or not": The boundaries between coupe SUV and hatchback sedan are fluid, because electric hatchbacks are also quite high due to the thick battery.
The Nissan Leaf is 1.53 meters high, but for us it is more of a hatchback sedan. The same applies to the Polestar 2; We have our own overview of electric limousines.
The Mazda MX-30 is only an inch higher, but one can rightly call it an SUV (or at least a crossover). You can also argue with the Jaguar I-Pace (height: 1.57 meters) and the Citroen e-C4, we both recorded.
