Electrifying growth in the large vans: The new Opel Zafira-e Life can now be ordered. The “e-lounge on wheels”, as the manufacturer calls its van, is the flagship of the series. As a battery-electric version, the new Zafira-e Life combines comfort and variability with a sense of responsibility. The new Stromer offers emission-free and quiet travel plus all the strengths of its classically powered brothers. The Opel Zafira-e Life starts at prices from 53.800 euros (incl. 19 percent VAT. in Germany for Zafira-e Life M Selection). Thanks to the environmental bonus, the starting price is reduced to 45.825 euros.

The Zafira-e Life is available in three lengths (small, medium, large) and with space for up to nine people. With a vehicle height of 1.90 meters, most Zafira‑e Life variants can easily be parked in underground garages. Not a matter of course for e-vans: The Zafira-e Life can be equipped with a trailer hitch and thus tow up to 1000 kilograms. Opel praises the electric Zafira as an ideal partner in the hotel industry and for shuttle services, as well as for private customers who want to combine a lot of space with comfort when traveling.

Zafira-e Life buyers benefit from the innovation premium for electric cars, which has been in force since July and which was decided by the federal government in the economic stimulus package. This increases the environmental bonus for purely electrically powered vehicles with a net list price of over 40.000 euros until 31. December 2021 to 7500 euros. With the VAT effect, this becomes a whopping 7975 euros (5000 euros from the state, plus. 2500 euros plus 19 percent VAT. (475 euros) from the manufacturer), which Zafira-e Life buyers of all versions (S, M, L) and equipment lines (Selection, Edition, Elegance, Tourer) can save.

With an output of 100 kW (136 hp) and a maximum torque of 260 Newton meters from a standing start, the Zafira-e Life is motorized with sufficient power. The top speed is limited to 130 km/h, which protects the electric range and at the same time enables relaxed cruising. Customers can choose between two different sized lithium-ion batteries. Depending on requirements, a battery with 75 kWh for a range of up to 330 kilometers and a 50 kWh battery for a maximum of 230 kilometers according to WLTP are available.

Practically installed in the vehicle floor between the axles, the battery does not restrict the loading volume and at the same time lowers the vehicle’s center of gravity due to its position. This improves the driving characteristics, which is particularly noticeable in curves and in terms of wind stability. A regenerative braking system, with which the Zafira-e Life can recuperate energy when coasting or braking, makes the electric van even more efficient.

The 50 kWh battery of the Zafira-e Life can be recharged to 80 percent in around 30 minutes at a fast charging station with 100 kW direct current. With the large 75 kWh battery, this takes about 45 minutes. Also standard is an 11 kW on-board charger for AC charging.

Drive safely with head-up display, distance radar and reversing camera

The new all-electric large-capacity passenger car from Opel has numerous driver assistance systems. A front camera and a distance radar jointly monitor what is happening in front of the vehicle. The semi-adaptive cruise control and limiter adapts the vehicle’s speed to the vehicle in front, the lane departure warning system and the drowsiness control system provide support and warn the driver if he has been behind the wheel for too long and a break is urgently needed. Speed, distance to the vehicle in front or navigation can also be displayed on the Zafira-e Life via a colored head-up display. Ultrasonic sensors in the front and rear aprons report obstacles to the driver when parking. Depending on the equipment, a reversing camera transmits its image to the interior mirror or the seven-inch monitor – in the latter case with a 180-degree bird’s-eye view.
