The German favorite car is now also available with an electric motor. If you want to drive further than the maximum 190 kilometers, you can use a free rental car.
W.hen it’s an electric car, it should be the E-Golf. One in four Germans would wait for the electrified version of the bestseller before buying another e-car. This is the result of a representative survey by TuV Rheinland among 1,000 drivers. In addition, every second respondent could imagine buying an electric car in the foreseeable future.
The VW E-Golf can now be ordered for 34,900 euros. The electric version of the five-door compact model is powered by a 115 hp electric motor that delivers a maximum torque of 270 Newton meters. The manufacturer specifies the power consumption per 100 kilometers as 12.7 kW / h.
At the current average price for household electricity (28.3 cents / kWh), a 100-kilometer journey would cost 3.59 euros. The range should be 190 kilometers.
Big difference in price compared to the e-Golf
The standard equipment of the electric Golf is relatively extensive in order to compensate for the high basic price compared to a conventionally powered model.
On board are, among other things, a navigation system, automatic air conditioning and LED headlights. Even so, the difference to the 140 hp Golf 1.4 TSI Highline remains large: This costs from 24,475 euros.
In order to make the E-Golf attractive as a first car, VW is offering a mobility package, just like with the Up electric small car. Vehicle owners can then use a rental car free of charge for 30 days per year for the first three years after purchasing the car. There are numerous VW models to choose from from the Up to the Van Sharan.
