The e-mobility gains significantly ride. For climate protection reasons – but also because governments promote them. What expects us in the still young year 2022, Hermann Winkler gives some assessments. He is manager at Evbox, a company that has prescribed intelligent charging solutions.
Thus, Winkler believes in a rapid expansion of the charging infrastructure – driven by a steadily rising number of approved E-cars. Especially in inner cities waxes therefore need for fast-loading possibilities, as they are previously found above all on distance roads. Finally, those who need everyday solution that could not load at home or at work.
After Winklers view, therefore, “Charge Hubs” are created, in which within a short time – according to surveys are 30 minutes acceptable – 80 percent cargo be achieved. This is completely sufficient for the usual everyday life. In Berlin, there are already first projects in this direction. “In parallel, more and more employers will offer charging solutions for employees on site,” says Evbox Manager. “This also supports the current KfW promotion for non-public charging points.”
For real environmental friendliness, however, the electricity must be generated sustainably. Since the production of renewable energy from the sun and wind is subject to weather-related fluctuations, intermediate storage is required. Thus, excess current can be stored either directly in batteries or converted into storable hydrogen. Therefore, Winkler dares the prognosis that in the next few years many traditional gas stations out of the street picture disappear and make public loading hubs with attached storage.
The power grid will also be expanded and renewed, so Winkler. In addition, it becomes increasingly important to know and tax the energy needs in detail. The software integrated into the loading infrastructure is therefore becoming increasingly important. You determine the need and manage the charging load on the one hand. For this reason, since July last year, a guideline, which prescribes control modules on charging stations mandatory. Winkler: “It should be guaranteed that network operators can regulate the power supply in an emergency to avoid overloads.”
This not only concerns the Charge Hubs – even for home layers such a control software is necessary. After all, the private charging station will quickly become one of the biggest electricity consumers in the household. More digitization and more software would also require more security. Winkler therefore advises in the choice of a charging solution to ensure that they are controllable according to correspondingly high standards.
Much will do in the near future in urban logistics, forecast Winkler. Unlike in long-distance traffic, relatively short distances are expected in this area a significant increase in E vehicles this year. Transport companies are reinforced to switch to the “last mile” to the electricity. Also garbage removal, stadeworks and transport companies tested various E vehicles. The advantage for the cities is on hand: less noise, less fine dust, fewer exhaust gases and more quality of life.
