Evum aCar: Successful start of series production for the small electric truck-evum

Evum aCar is the name of a small electric van that we have already reported on several times at Motor1 to have. The light e-commercial vehicle has been available to order since June 2020, and series production started at the end of 2020.

The first vehicles are now being delivered.

One of the first customers was vehicle technology professor Markus Lienkamp from the Technical University of Munich, who also bought the Mute electric car has launched. His former doctoral students Martin Šoltes and Sascha Koberstaedt now handed Lienkamp the key to the vehicle designed at his chair.

"Of course I am proud and I am extremely happy for my former doctoral students and founders of Evum that they have now managed to bring the aCar into series production," said the former doctoral supervisor of the two company founders.

The spin-off company founded in 2017 is currently working on building up the dealer and service network. BayWa AG was won as the first partner in January 2021. Evum now has 90 locations in Germany and Switzerland. An expansion to other European countries is planned.

Evum Motors GmbH is headquartered in Munich. However, the aCar is produced in Bayerbach near Ergoldsbach, around 100 kilometers to the north-east. The aCar has a payload of one ton and is particularly suitable for agriculture, forestry and municipal service providers. The vehicle is delivered as a standard flatbed truck, but there is also a three-way tipper, a box body and variants with tarpaulins and bows.

Because the vehicle was originally intended for developing countries, the vehicle was specifically developed for low complexity and maximum benefit. The aCar does without expensive high-voltage technology and instead uses a 48-volt battery. Nevertheless, it offers (with an optional range package) a range of up to 200 kilometers. The aCar can be charged at any socket. Approved in class N1, it can be driven with a normal car driver's license.

The price list starts at 35,999 euros gross for the first mover edition with a flatbed. The range package costs 11,888 euros.
