So far, small series manufacturers Vanderhall had made a name for itself among car and motorcycle fans through its mad thorough wheels. Now the Americans are adding – with the electrically powered Brawley 4×4 off -road vehicle.

The new Vanderhall Brawley can hardly hide a certain similarity to one or the other jeep model – and that is not only due to round headlights and slat cooler grille. But by the fact that the four electrically driven tunnel tires are on the corners of the climbing mixer and the aprons were pulled far up, the brawley looks like a dipped bathtub when it presses through wood and steppe.

With a length of just 3.75 meters, the second door from the USA offers space for up to four occupants. Four individually controlled electric motors on the front and rear axles ensure the drive, which together generate 295 kW / 404 hp and a maximum torque of 690 Nm. The customer has the choice between two battery packs with 40 and 60 kWh, which should enable ranges of up to 320 kilometers to the next load stop in the middle of the vehicle. With the optional fast charging system, the large battery pack strengthens in just under an hour to 80 percent.

The cabin can be sealed completely against dust and sand for hard use in the field. In the interior there are four heated single seats, air conditioning and a emphasized puristic cockpit without airbags. Instead of the now common large displays, the electric model offers two large and a small round watch behind the handy leather steering wheel.

Otherwise, the occupants look alone on a narrow switch battery in the middle of the dashboard as well as storage and glove compartment. The wheelbase: 2.86 meters – remarkable for a 3.75 meter long off -roader. If desired, the roof can be removed with just a few handles. On request, the brawley is on the road with windscreen wipers, heating, air conditioning or sound system, but whoever wants you get a minimum package without any comfort and puristic all -wheel drive enjoyment in the field.

There is no longer any stopping for the Brawley, especially away from paved paths, because the tunnel tires up to 35 inches limit the unusual electric vehicle to the front and back in length without further overhang. Its travel is huge with 56 centimeters, with the pilot at the wheel up to a speed of 15 km/h depending on the surface between the four off -road modes ECRAB, Esteer, Etank and Ecrawl.

So the all -wheel drive can move slightly like a crab on the side or climb in the hard terrain and circle compact. However, the so-called Etank mode is particularly spectacular, in which the wheels on the left and right side of the vehicle can turn the chains in opposite directions and can be turned almost on the spot. Helpful if stollen tires, bypass shock absorbers and ground clearance of 46 centimeters should not be enough to get on.
