Opel Ampera: This is what the new electric car looks like

They should act as a transitional technology from the gasoline to the electrical drive. According to the vision of the Russelsheimer, electric cars with fuel cells and hydrogen in the tank are in the end. As a time for series production, Opel 2015 considers realistic. Weber is convinced that "the next ten years of automotive development will be more exciting than the past 100 years".
This also includes Voltec technology: Based on the statistical knowledge that 80 percent of all people in most industrialized nations do not cover more than 50 kilometers per day with their car, GM developed an electrically powered car, which can be charged at the socket, with a range of only 60 kilometers, which also has a benzingenerator. This allows to cover distances of several hundred kilometers and make fully usable vehicles from Volt and Ampera. Experience with the purely electric EV1 from 1998 had shown that the concern for the range or the fear of being left behind is one of the most important factors for rejection of electric cars.
How big is the battery?
With the range for the majority of the operations, the capacity of the battery could be determined next. For 60 kilometers, eight kWh is enough for the 111 kW engine. The 200 lithium-ion cells even come to 16 kWh. Because modern battery technology reacts allergically to deep discharge. However, if the cells are constantly discharged up to around 50 percent, they last ten years and 240,000 kilometers, according to GM. Thanks to the big buffer, the driver should not notice anything from a capacity that may have decreased by years.

General Motors stamped the EV 1 again years ago despite satisfied leasing customers. … And now an automobile with an electric drive GM should help from the crisis? For Opel, the serial hybrid drive is in any case the step in the correct direction. Absolutely

Highly interesting description. My interest has sparked very strongly. The price would not put me off because I would do something for our descendants. God gave us the world to keep it and not to destroy it.

  3. 4.8 liters of consumption…
If the battery and electric motor are only loaded/operated with the generator ? Even conventional cars already reach this "relative" low consumption. The whole project only makes sense when electricity CO2 can be freely produced. Well, it’s a start at least.

Since I am currently thinking about the purchase of a new car, I find the alternative of Opel very interesting. The Russelsheimers have equipped the car, which is visually appealing for my taste. As an engineer, I don’t drive more than 35km a day so I could permanently drive an electric drive. If Opel has adapted the interior of the external appearance, I would already order the car, provided someone says the price, and wait a year until delivery. Finally a concept with the not only camel riding turban carrier but eV. European. E-power plants could earn money. With my green electricity from the socket, I could still sleep without a guilty conscience.

The instrument in order to be able to reliably use electric cars is currently being introduced: the toll system! An electronic system that forces taxable electricity removal is always bypassable. The experience is U.A. made with the Internet and all its appearances.

The thing only pays off if a hydrogen industry is built up that stores the solar energy in hydrogen at least across Europe. The batteries of the electric cars themselves could also serve as a buffer memory for renewable energies. If the good idea of the electric motor starts and the cars are bought, the electricity price (without need, only from greed for the power companies) will explode and sobalt times 250.000 cars run away, the electricity will be taxed properly as gasoline from the state. Then it will be forbidden at some point to load its electric car on the kitchen socket, but will be an electronically controlled carcado cane box. If the car does not get the molulated signal from this socket, it will not be loaded. Bet, that comes like this or similar.

  7. CO2 balance from gasoline
I spontaneously see that the production of the electricity is included in the CO2 balance. "Costs" Because the production of petrol/super/diesel fuel so little CO2 that is nowhere mentioned? I have my doubts! Gas driver – 120km a day currently leaves little scope.

Of course you should only be over the entire cycle. Strangely enough, most people start with an electric car in electricity production in the power plant, in gasoline or diesel only is expected from the combustion. This is not expedient, of course the extraction of oil, the fuel finishing in the refineries and the complete transport chain must also be considered, only then can both drive concepts be compared in a meaningful way.

  9. Opel better than his reputation
Once again, this proves that Opel is much better than his reputation (and most careless comments). More reliable and cost/benefit cheaper than the German competition.

  10. Hydrogen from the sunny desert
According to the motto Kleinvieh, crap also makes you. So – the deserts paved with solar modules and the sea water split into hydrogen, then by tank or line according to the EU. Mr. BOlkow calculated 20 years ago that this would work. And 20 years ago, the solar cells were not as productive as today.
