Ford Mustang Mach-E GT: With these cars it competes-ford

The Ford Mustang Mach-E GT can now be ordered. With a length of 4.71 meters, it is one of the mid-range SUVs, the 358 kW GT version is characterized above all by its high output. We compare with the competition.

For us, the less powerful Jaguar I-Pace (294 kW) and BMW iX3 (210 kW) models are not among our closer rivals. We have also sorted out smaller models such as the Hyundai Ioniq 5 (4.64 meters) and the longer Audi e-tron S (4.90 meters). There then remain the Kia EV6 in the strong GT version, the Tesla Model Y in the performance version and the Mercedes EQC.

Here are the most important dates (better values are bolded):

Even a superficial comparison of the greased data shows: The Kia is ahead. It offers far more power than the competition, which is reflected in better driving performance. Thanks to the 800-volt system, the Kia charges much faster than the rivals, who all work with 400 volts.

The advantages of the Ford include the long range and that it has a lot of "frunk". In terms of cargo space, however, the Model Y should be even better, although precise data is missing here (as is so often the case with Tesla). The Tesla also offers seven seats as an option.

The availability of most models is still limited. The EQC is the only car already on the market, with the Ford to follow in 2021. The situation at Kia and Tesla is uncertain. Kia writes "Winter 2022" on the website, which of course leaves considerable leeway: This can mean January 2022 or December 2022. And Tesla is stating the beginning of 2022, but given the unclear situation in Grunheide, we wouldn't bet too much on that.

Overall, based on the data, the Kia EV6 would be the best choice for us. It's also relatively cheap. The Ford disappoints in comparison with less power, poorer charging behavior and a higher price. But who knows if Kia can deliver too …
