The topic of downsizing does not stop at the diesel engines from Honda. The economical little ones will only be available at the end of next year.

With a new generation of diesel engine, Honda wants to remain attractive in Europe. The first unit of the new series will be a 1.6-liter diesel with 88 kW/120 hp, which will be used for the first time in the compact car Civic at the end of next year. The torque of 300 Newton meters is 2.000 revolutions, the Japanese indicate around 3.8 liters per 100 kilometers, which corresponds to CO2 emissions of less than 100 g/km.
The new engine should not only consume less than comparable diesel, but also significantly lighter. The drive is said to be gradual in other models of the Japanese models. In terms of price, the small diesel should be among the 2.2-liter that has been used so far. These currently start at 25.800 euros in the Civic. The basic gasoline engine costs 16.950 euros.
