Hyundai: One million kilometers with hydrogen loaders-kilometers

The world’s first fleet of the series produced in series Hyundai Xcient Fuel Cell has been reached since the delivery in October 2020 the trademark of 1 million kilometers. This has announced the Group in a communication. Thus, the 46-tonner’s 46-tonner – compared to diesel trucks – have already saved 631 tonnes of CO2 emissions, it says. This success is the same for Hyundai as historical as for the 25 transport and logistics companies.

In 2019, Hyundai and Swiss company founded H2 Energy a joint venture marketing the heavy fuel cell commercial vehicles in a pay-per-use system. Hyundai Hydrogen Mobility (HHM) offers the Xcient Fuel Cell in a kind of leasing that includes all costs – from importation to technical care to availability of green hydrogen. The advantage: For the end customers, the high cost of a purchase.

This model should now be clearly extended. “HHM is planning the expansion for the coming year in other European markets – probably to Germany and the Netherlands,” says HHM boss Mark Freymuller. Meanwhile, they register a strong interest from almost all European countries. In the new model year, the Xcient Fuel Cell is offered as a model 4 × 2 and 6 × 2 with fixed superstructures. By 2025, the expansion of the vehicle fleet is planned to 1600 copies.

Behind the use of heavy commercial vehicles in Switzerland is a hydrogen electrical ecosystem, which is currently being built in a worldwide unique project there. “A strong argument only provides the storage capability of hydrogen,” says JOrg Ackermann, President of the FOrderverein H2 Mobility Switzerland. The Hyundai Xcient Fuel Cell is the most effective way to decarbonize heavy traffic.

Also beyond the logistics area Hyundai continues to set hydrogen. With the “Strategy 2025”, Koreans connect an annual sales target of 110.000 fuel cell vehicles up to 2025 (cars and trucks). In parallel, the Group drives the production capacity of hydrogen cars by 2030 to 500.000 units per year high.

Important basis of this strategy is the massive expansion in the production of green hydrogen based on renewable energy sources. The increasing availability of the gas, the expansion of the H2-filling network and the use of fuel cell vehicles formed an environmentally friendly eco-cycle, is called Hyundai.

  1. In order to have The 36-tonner 36-tonner – compared to diesel trucks – save 631 tonnes of CO2 emissions be able, is it [called.

… if they had been refueled with green hydrogen. But they were not and therefore the climate balance is still much worse ..

  2. Nice – now we are back in the discussion on going on: we will have enough green hydrogen for all those who would like to have what?
Industry, boat trip, train traffic, heating …
I still doubt that, because it is not done with a hydrogen truck in an extra designed scenario in the triangle 1 million kilometers drive.
    Topic infrastructure and costs.
Good, there are also my taxpayers who are wasted here for road traffic.
