In June 2018, the third funding call to the expansion of electric car charging infrastructure in Bavaria took place. In addition to the construction of the charging column, the promotion also includes the mains connection and the assembly. It is 40 percent of expenses that arise when building up publicly accessible charging columns. If additional added value is connected to the charging station, for example when building a park&Ride parking, the subsidy rate can be increased by ten percentage points.
A total of 228 prospects had submitted their funding contracts. The applications were approved in the meantime. For this, the Free State of Bavaria has provided 3.8 million euros. The applicants are built for just under ten million euros 627 charging pillars with 1.146 charging points. The Bavarian funding program complements the Federal Program.
“This third funding round exceeded all expectations. The net is always poet. We have 1 now.143 charging columns with over 2.000 charging points promoted in Bavaria. This is an important contribution to promoting the nationwide expansion of the charging infrastructure in Bavaria and to further improve air quality in our cities.”- Hubert Aiwanger, Economics and Energy Minister Bavaria
Aiwanger also gives to understand that with the new charging columns of the third funding round the goal of 7.000 charging columns until 2020 again a good deal is approached. He also assumes that at least another funding call is started in 2019, the financial resources were decided by the Cabinet, the Minister. Bayern continues to expand its own position in Germany-wide charging column ranking with the establishment of the new charging columns. Already in October 2017, Hamburg and Bavaria were leader in electric car charging infrastructure.
