May I overtake stray vehicles? – automobile

Without clearing vehicles, nothing works on German roads after the onset of winter. The winter services work around the clock. But how do you behave correctly when clearing vehicles are on the roads?

That Road salt, also called austal alto, Incidentally, more than 90 percent of normal table salt really consists of. Unfortunately, the clearing services also mean long snakes, especially on highways.

Overtake? Yes but

The ADAC advises drivers, clearing vehicles not to overtake. Because the road is still dangerously smooth in front of the vehicles. In addition, the stray wagons often drive staggered, so offset next to each other. It is also easy to underestimate how wide the snow plow really is.
If you are overtaking – that is not forbidden – be sure to consider the following: the small snow pile that forms next to the shovel, Cross in the blunt angle. Then as few wheels of the car drive in the deep snow at the same time.It is best to be patient and stay behind the clearing vehicle until it turns. Hustling in the snow is the worst guide for drivers – prefer to enjoy the beautiful sides of the winter.

  1. Depends on.
I’ve been working in winter service for 25 years and have to say I have already seen everything. How many … have already written beforehand on the road conditions. Also like to make room if we only sprinkle as a precaution. But what I’ve been observing more in recent years is that many drivers are too aggressive and ruthless in traffic. In snow, I already had a lot of people who overtook and overestimate with an all -wheel drive vehicle, which I see again shortly afterwards in the side room.

How does that work? I cannot do any other angle when overtaking. You may be able to get out wide and then drive back in the snake line towards the clearing vehicle to run over the snow pile in the "blunt angle"?

  3. Think beforehand then accelerate!!!
Of course one can … but the meaningfulness can be very doubtful! I think behind the snow plow, the road conditions are much better and in winter conditions adapted speed is the be -all and end -all!

If you don’t know what you can overtake when and how, you can or not, and the person also has a driver’s license ? well then….. But so some also drive, if they have already noticed it.

  6. preferred in front of the snow vehicle
I have to admit whenever it fits, I overtake snow vehicles, especially because of the salt pigery. My vehicle is probably superior to most clearing vehicles in these street ratios and I just don’t feel like having the car snapped behind my things. Incidentally, I wouldn’t mind at all if we followed the Nordic countries and their environmental awareness and no longer bring salt to the streets at all!

  7. I agree
Because stay behind the vehicle only later brings positive effects. The salt, if it is scattered, must also work first. That doesn’t work in seconds.

Is overtaken. Whoever blindly and without mind ends up in the ditch. I have never had any problems when I overtook. But everyone should act according to their skills. There are just those who are extremely risky and which drive the hyper -caution, I do not count myself to any of the groups mentioned.

When is a snow clearing vehicle outside on the street. ?. ….. When it is smooth and what is the task of the snow generator?? ….. Firstly to push the snow aside, and secondly to spread against black ice….. So for the safety of the cars driving behind the snow….. It’s stupid that is outdated….

  10. One should distinguish
can whether the street is snow -free u. is only salted as a precaution or really snow and how high. Driving after driving reduces the risk of getting into overtaking in a non -manageable situation, scattering alone is not the decisive factor. The breakout takes some time to work properly, it is wrong to think, everything is sure, in front of me is the wing.

After passing an examination, paragraph 1 of the StVO knows; So there is no need for such a question "may I? "

Do they have their exams the driving schools again and hardly any work sooner. We can have the driving school done from 15J, they can better remember everything.

A few years ago on Christmas Eve, I was traveling between Leipzrzh and Dresden with maximum snowfall. With a effort I overtook a snow plowduo. It went well with luck, but in retrospect I would say that it was too much of the good. My recommendation: stop, drink a hot coffee, then you have a quarter of an hour on a freshly cleared road again before you walk back on the clearing vehicle. I assume the drivers of the snow plows shake with my head when you talk to her experiences with hasty drivers.

  14. This is normal driving behavior
What many driving is underestimating is the reduced secure speed on the non -cleared lane. You have to get a good 20 – 30 km/h faster for the overtaking process than the clearing vehicle, if you scent off in the snowy track, then there is usually a break
