In the second half of 2022 the small transporter Ecitan of Mercedes-Benz starts. This fully electric CITIS will be available in different construction variants. The range is expected to be approximately 285 kilometers to WLTP. Thus, it meets the needs of commercial users who often use these models as courier and vans in the urban area, so Mercedes-Benz in a recent communication. Large plus: With the dimensions of the cargo space and the payload no smears against the conventional models must be made. Also a trailer hitch will be available for the ECITAN.
Mercedes-Benz thus offers an electrical alternative in all Van categories: With the 2018 market launch of the Evito and the Esprinter in 2019, Mercedes-Benz Vans has already set signs for locally emission-free, commercial freight traffic in urban space. Evito Tourer and EQV also provide electric passenger transport.
The electric motor of the Ecitan available in various construction variants will have a peak performance of 75 kW (102 hp). The maximum torque of 245 Nm is already available when starting when starting, which allows a particularly powerful acceleration from the stand. The lithium-ion battery sits crash-protected in the underfloor in front of the rear axle. She has a usable capacity of 44 kWh. In the a total of eight battery modules, pouch cells work.
Mercedes Benz
A third-party synchronous machine (FSM) drives the front wheels of the ECITAN. Customers have the choice between the two driving programs Comfort and Eco (range optimized) and three recuperation levels (D-/ D / D +).
In the company, at home or public charging stations, the ECITAN can be recharged with the help of the onboard loader comfortably with 11 or optionally with 22 kW with AC (AC). The respective loading time for a full charge depends on the available infrastructure and the country-specific vehicle equipment.
Even faster it goes to fast charging stations with DC (DC). Depending on the SOC (state of charge, German: state of charge) and the temperature of the high-voltage battery, the Ecitan loads on a corresponding column with a maximum power of up to 75 kW. The charging time is expected to be around 40 minutes from 10 to 80 percent SOC. For the AC and DC charging, the ECITAN can optionally be purchased with a CCS combination plug (Combined Charging Systems). This sits in the front under the Mercedes star.

Nice idea brings nothing for private persons … There are the e-Berlingo or the other PSA offshoots better and even there you should try to offer more charging power and at least as an option to offer the 75kWh battery
So 44kWh battery capacity, and which still from a premium manufacturer as maximum equipment is no longer up-to-date from my point of view.
sad image .. Actually, Mercedes should have learned that from Renault (the wagonist a umbdired Kangoo) nothing is coming. The E-platform for the smart was garbage, the Renault diesel were Obermull, the burner-Citan and now as a shameful coronation of the E-Citan.
But since Renault at Bev has to give away for even something for sale, Mercedes may have made a bargain.
And yet I believe that commercial customers can choose this car well. Because if you have set up a loading infrastructure on the company yard, you will usually not have to reload this car during the day. 200 km realistic the car will pack and more he does not have to create, the knowledge manufacturer from the fixed annual kilometers of previous company vehicles. Overnight, such a vehicle charges inexpensively, so the operating costs are falling.
Well done Mercedes. If you want to build E, you need a partner with experience. These are Renault and Nissan. The E Smart has a great platform that is popular. The DCI engines are permanent runners. The auto world has to owe Renault the invention of the turbocharger as well as the drum brake. Renault has everything to the wall with his turbomotors in the formula 1 everything else. You could not imagine the small turbomotors could beat the big suckers. Well, as one of the oldest carmakers in the world, you have Know How.
