Mercedes is expanding the range of its mid-range SUV with electric drive to include an AMG Line sports version and at the same time reducing the base price from 71,281 to 66,069 euros. Both models, the new basic version like the AMG Line, have the same drive with 300 kW and the same 80 kWh battery.

Because the net list price of the EQC-If the basic model starts at less than 65,000 euros, you can still get an environmental bonus of 5,000 euros from the federal government and 2,500 euros from Mercedes settle up. The effective price of the basic model is now 58,094 euros.

The Stuttgart-based company did not say whether this price reduction of around 5,000 euros would also reduce the equipment. It just means that the car is now configured uniformly across Europe.

In any case, the new basic version is not badly equipped. According to the price list, the standard scope of delivery includes 19-inch aluminum wheels, adaptive dampers, multibeam LED headlights, electrically operated tailgate, the MBUX monitor system, navigation system, reversing camera, seats with electric height and tilt adjustment and two-zone automatic air conditioning. The standard assistants include an anti-collision system, active lane departure warning and traffic sign recognition.

In addition to the basic model, a sporty alternative is now the EQC 400 4Matic AMG Line for 73,209 euros. The sports version has, among other things, the AMG-Line exterior and interior, including a "black-panel radiator grille in twin-blade design". Special 19-inch aluminum wheels are also part of the series. Inside there are sports seats with gray stitching.

Both models can be ordered immediately and will be in dealerships in May 2021. If you don't want to buy the car, you can get both model variants "in different markets" with an EQC subscription. The lease usually runs for 24 months, but can also be terminated earlier with a three-month notice period.

The EQC 400 4Matic was launched in summer 2019 as the first vehicle from the Mercedes-EQ sub-brand. The electric motors on the front and rear axles provide a combined output of 300 kW (408 hp). The 80 kWh battery provides a range of up to 462 kilometers.

Like all EQCs meanwhile, the new ones also have an 11 kW charger as standard. Charging has recently started with 11 kW alternating current. This means that the battery can be charged from 10 to 100 percent in 7:30 hours. With 110 kW direct current, charging takes 40 minutes. Around 20,000 EQCs have been delivered worldwide to date. The largest markets were China, Norway and Great Britain, followed by Germany and the Netherlands.
