Millions of cars on the road with defects
No longer suitable for traffic: Almost every fourth car falls through the TuV
dpa/Oliver Killig Drivers should keep an eye on the main inspection if they plan a longer trip abroad.
Millions of German car owners have old vehicles or let them wait too rarely. The result: Every fourth car does not receive the test sticker at the TuV in the first attempt and is therefore not sufficiently suitable for traffic.
- Almost a quarter of the cars in Germany fall through the TuV
- Ten million cars drive with defects
- An too high age of the vehicles and neglected maintenance are the reason
Around ten million cars are on the road with defects on Germany’s streets. Almost every fourth car was carried out in the first half of this year during the main inspection because of serious defects, as the Society for Technical Monitoring (GTu) announced on Tuesday in Frankfurt am Main. The largest problem children in the test engineers were brakes, lighting and environmental pollution from exhaust gases, oil loss and noise. But the poor condition of many tires was also complained about.
Neglected maintenance
Of the total of 44.4 million cars that are traveling in this country, the examiners took a close look at 2.3 million between January and June. The number of cars without a defect remained constant at around 60 percent. Overall, the default volume has been stagnating at a high level for two years, explained the GTu.The GTu explained that around ten million cars would not have received the test sticker in the first attempt. Another reason is the increasing average age of the cars in Germany. It is currently over nine years and continues to increase. Of the cars over nine -year -olds, more than half are on the road with defects. Almost every third car in this group is even traffic uncertain.

Maybe the German emperor was right when he said that the automotive … Maybe the German emperor was right when he said that the automotive will be a temporary appearance? At least I can’t imagine that we are the next 5 billion. Years of the car will drive until the sun flies around our ears. VLT 500 years, as long as the witch hunting in Europe lasted. If in around five billion years in the center of the sun of all hydrogen, the sun flows into a red giant star – it will probably also swallow our earth.
My Fiat is 16 years old
Defects in the DEKRA: torn rear window wipers and license plate lighting (just before). Means re -demonstration. No rust, brakes, chassis, machine etc. Everything 1a. Ok, I deliberately drive through the DEKRA every 2 years so that I don’t get a lot of parts unnecessarily. It is actually a sign of what kind of idiots are doing because of a rear window wiper. Because with 2 outside mirrors I could even stick the rear window. The estate has recently been changed, so that even with slight shortcomings, it is necessary to return. The TuV wants the "annual examination" push through. The Dekra auditor, very friendly, said that with such a care my Fiat was for another 25 years. He would then be 41.
Mr. Stein, I also made this observation
Once I even became because of a missing one "100km/h stickers" At the speedometer (because I had winter tires at the TuV appointment in spring) sent back. Criticism could also be practiced in practice that the ASU engines of older cars that are treated with the owner and never driven fully exhausted are tortured to maximum speed over a longer period of time and several times in a row
