The brand is cult and is now making a fresh start: The motorcycle manufacturer Horex will be back with a strong first model from March.

D.he legendary motorcycle brand Horex is celebrating its resurrection. After years of waiting, the time has come in March 2012: The Augsburg company is launching the 161 hp Horex Roadster model with a naturally aspirated VR6 engine and 1.2 liter displacement.

New naked bike

Motorcycle fans all over the world have been looking forward to the revival of the cult brand, now they can look forward to an exclusive naked bike with a powerful drive. A full fairing is completely missing – just naked.

According to the manufacturer, only a few hundred copies of the Horex Roadster will be produced in the first year of production. The price for the first Horex of the modern era will be around 22,000 euros.

Turbo variant with 200 hp

Even this variant should push powerfully with up to 135 Nm torque. A supercharged version with around 200 hp will follow as the second model.

Before the future top model with supercharging, the Horex Roadster with the 161 hp naturally aspirated VR6 makes the start.

Borrowed from the automobile industry

The skilful mixture of in-line and V-engines is known from the automotive industry and especially from the VW group.

The disadvantages of the space-saving design, such as suction paths of different lengths, have been brought under control.

After initial speculations about a toothed belt drive, Horex will now rely on chains, supplemented by constant graphite solid lubrication.

This should avoid annoying maintenance efforts, at the same time the driver – more than with cardan models, for example – can enjoy low load changes and good damping.
