Tesla boss Elon Musk is working with his company Neuralink on a technology that is supposed to make a brain computer interface possible. It is known that animal experiments are made-now a US medical committee is raising serious allegations against the company.

The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (DT.: Medical committee for responsible medicine)-a non-profit, US organization with over 17.000 members from the medical area – on 10. February 2022 submitted to the US Ministry of Agriculture against the University of California, Davis (UC Davis). The accusation: Violations of animal welfare laws related to invasive and fatal brain attempts on 23 monkeys. The university had received more than $ 1.4 million from Elon Musk’s company company Neuralink to carry out the experiments.

The lawsuit comprises almost 600 pages of documents that were only released after the medical committee submitted a first complaint for access to public documents in 2021. The Medical Committee also submitted a second complaint to force the university to publish videos and photos of the monkeys. Most animals have been removed from parts of their skull in order to implant them in their brain as part of the development of a "brain computer interface" by neuralink electrodes, according to the medical committee in a press release.

In its complaint, the Medical Committee indicates that Neuralink and the UC Davis staff had failed to provide the dying monkeys adequately veterinarian, that they had used a non -approved substance called "BioGlue" that killed the monkeys by parts by parts destroyed their brain and that they failed to ensure the psychological well -being of the monkeys that had to take part in the experiment. The monkeys were housed solely in cages that steel posts were screwed into their skulls, they had suffered "facial trauma", seizures after brain implantations and recurring infections at the implantation centers. In some cases, Neuralink and UC Davis even killed the monkeys due to their deteriorating health before they were even used for the planned experiment.

"UC Davis may have handed over its public funds to a billionaire, but that does not mean that they can escape the transparency requirements and violate animal welfare," said Jeremy Beckham, coordinator for research funding at the Medical Committee. “The documents reveal that the brains of monkeys were mutilated in sloppy experiments and that they had to suffer and die. It is no secret why Elon Musk and the university want to hide photos and videos of these terrible ill -treatment from the public."

Ex-employees had recently made allegations against Neuralink

So far, the university refuses to publish photos and videos and claim that the documents belong to Neuralink, which, as a private company, is not subject to the California law on public records. The Medical Committee, on the other hand, argues that the work carried out in public institutions and created materials must be subject to the California law on public records.

Only recently had former neuralink employees complained about a climate of fear in the company. In addition, strong employee fluctuation should be the rule in the company. Last year, Neuralink had released a video on YouTube that a nine -year -old macaques (a primate genre, note. D. Red.) This shows how he plays the computer game pong with his neuralink implant. Elon Musk had announced in the past to want to start people with the first neuralink attempts at the end of 2022.

Memory of VW tests with monkeys

Meanwhile, Tesla’s “Monkey Gate” is reminiscent of another inglorious case from the car industry: Volkswagen once had attempts to monkeys in the USA to test the danger of diesel exhaust gases. When this became known, the manufacturer was exposed to a veritable shit storm in the middle of the exhaust gas scandal.

  1. Abolish animal experiments
Clearly no to animal experiments. I am surprised that there are only 3 comments here. Tesla probably has fans in the editorial team or?

  2. Elon certainly has an explanation
As always when something goes wrong with this company, whether the electric cars burn, disassemble or the autopilot is none, the drivers are to blame. So the guilt will probably be pushed away from the monkeys, because where everything is at least giga, it cannot be different.

  3. I wouldn’t be surprised.
Unfortunately, there are still cruel animal experiments. Especially naturally in the pharmaceutical industry, but also Z.B. for cosmetics basic substances or in biology and behavioral research. This is not done in Western Europe, where people do not like to see something like that, but far away, without observers and inspectors. However, the companies often sell their end products as "without animal experiments" manufactured, because you didn’t do any. – Animals are unfortunately only considered a thing according to the law.

  4. Oh well
I’m really not a friend of Tesla, but you should be careful and stay fair. As long as there is no crystal -clear evidence on the table, Tesla should not be so frightened. The media do not do everything that is what is going on through the ether. I first assume that Tesla is innocent on the topic. Everything else would simply not be acceptable. There is also no scope for discussion. Logically, this does not only apply to Tesla.
