Nikola invests millions to produce hydrogen from garbage-nikola

The electric vehicle manufacturer Nikola Motors, specializing in the development and production of trucks with battery and fuel cell drives, has invested $ 50 million in cash and shares in returning 20% of the clean hydrogen project by Wabash Valley Resources LLC ( WVR) to secure. The project prefers to use fixed waste products in combination with biomass to produce clean, sustainable hydrogen for transport and basic load stream generation.

Currently it can be assumed that after its completion, the project is expected to be one of the largest projects for the production of clean hydrogen in the United States. The focus is on the production of carbon-free hydrogen with the potential to develop hydrogen with negative carbon intensity in the future. Simon Greenshields, CEO of Wabash Valley Resources, explains: “WVR develops a multi-product system in which the hydrogen can be burned in a turbine to produce clean basic load stream.”From the point of view of Nikola, the joint project with WVR will deposit the conversion to clean transport fuels for truck traffic in the Midwest of the United States.

Through this investment, Nikola is expected to be a significant hydrogen hub with the possibility of accepting CA. 50 tons per day get to his future petrol stations in a radius of approx. 480 km to provide a significant part of the Midwest.

“We intend to produce clean, cost-effective hydrogen with this project in a critical area critical for commercial transport. The Wabash solution can generate both current and hydrogen as a transport fuel, which should provide flexibility to support future truck sales and rollout of hydrogen tank stations in the region. The expected efficiency of clean hydrogen production of WVR should allow Nikolas bundled truck leasing, including fuel, service and maintenance, to compete favorably with diesel.”- Pablo Koiner, President, Energy and Commercial, Nikola

As part of this investment in the hydrogen industry in the Midwest, Nikola intends to build gas stations throughout Indiana and the other Midwest to serve the region. The finished system should be able to produce up to 336 tons of hydrogen per day, enough to produce clean electricity around 285 megawatts. It is expected that the project 125 requires full-time employee and possibly creates 750 jobs in the construction industry. The first groundbreaking ceremony is expected for early 2022 and the completion will take about two years.

The electric vehicle start-up Nikola Motors announced details of its planned hydrogen trucks in the spring. After the launch of the purely electric truck Tre Bev in the US, the company therefore plans the introduction of two fuel cell trucks: on the one hand the hydrogen variant of the TRE with the abbreviation FCEV and, on the other, the Nikola Two FCEV designed on long-hauls with a generous Sleeping cabin for the driver.

  1. A hydrogen project that provides for use firm waste products in combination with biomass is probably useful in terms of CO2-friendly and energetically useful hydrogen production – albeit compared to the required amount Z.B. For the metal fringe alone to look rather than niche production.

“WVR’s expected efficiency of clean hydrogen production of WVR should allow Nikolas bundled truck leasing, including fuel, service and maintenance, to compete favorably with diesel.”

But that is not enough, as it will be “in the market” in the future V.a. Arrives that with the Favorable costs (TCO) Reinelectric trucks to compete.

  2. Incidentally, this is the same company, which has also moved all investors with fake pictures of their “self-developed” truck last year over the table.
They have rolled down a hill without their own drive to demonstrate how great their new technology is (the older ones may still remember &# 128521; )
But obviously there are enough stupid investors in search of the next “Tesla Super Invest” every day.

  3. The electric vehicle manufacturer Nikola Motors specializing in the development and production of trucks with battery and fuel cell drives ..

The joke is good – what has nikola produced, that would also be available? – In the Nikola shop there are in addition to many clothes and caps with Nikola logo only one model truck made of 100% polyurethanes for 5 dollars.

Now, hydrogen should be mixed with the topics of waste and biomass to convey the impression of sustainability, but waste and biomass can be better used differently and cheaper.

In one Nikola is really good and that is to collect money – if that is not 2. “Wirecard” will.
