At the beginning of August 2018, we had already reported that the start-up Nikola engine had just collected money in a funding round to bring the heavy tread Nikola One and Nikola Two with fuel cell drive by 2020. In response to the broad interest of European customers, the Nikola Motor Company also developed a hydrogen electric truck for European markets.
In the first five days after presentations of the Hydrogen Electric Truck Nikola Tre, pre-orders from Europe worth 380 million US dollars. Now Nikola releases and announces that the Nikola Two and Nikola Tre as pure electric trucks should come across the street.
1.000 kWh battery capacity brings the Nikola Two and Nikola Tre around 480 kilometers
The two electric trucks with battery capacities of 500 kWh, 750 kWh or 1.000 kWh. Both the fuel cell and the purely battery electrical version of the two trucks on the Nikola World 2019 in April are to be presented in Phoenix. The company itself announced that the fuel cell trucks are more designed for long distances, while the purely electrical variants for short distances are more suitable.
Interesting is also the fact that the battery electrical variant is almost 2.27 tonnes heavier than the fuel cell variant. 2.27 tonnes that may be missing in terms of payload. The range comes with approx. 300 miles (around 483 km) at the 1.000 kWh version of Nikola battery electric truck. These are values that already possible effects in daily traffic.
Expansion of the hydrogen stations line continue in focus
At the plans for the expansion of the hydrogen stations line in the US and Canada to 2028, one continues to hold. Each station is capable of daily 2.000 to 8.000 kg to produce hydrogen. The European stations of Nikola should go about 2022 on the net and cover the largest part of the European market by 2030. The time for a full fulfillment of the Nikola Tre is given with 20 minutes.
