    Lunch break-Philipp invites the hybrid defender to a quick charging station by McDonald’s. In a good half an hour, the limp battery invites you to 80 percent full. After the burger meal, the battery is 96 percent full. "That’s really okay," says Philipp.

    Not okay for Philipp: The full load on the fast loader cost around ten euros. "That is 30 euros per 100 kilometers just for electricity," says Philipp. "The diesel comes almost cheaper," he says and switches to hybrid mode. So the battery lasts much longer. On a mixed route with parts of the city, country road, field path and highway, consumption levels off at a good 11 liters – plus electricity. On the highway, consumption increases to over 15 liters at 130 km / h.

    "My diesel defender needs about as much on the highway," says Philipp. “But with that I rarely drive faster than 100."

Philipp can only guess the current consumption displayed, because the Defender does not show him even after a long search in the menus.

    As someone who has a lot of experience with off -road vehicles (mainly savannah and half desert) with a defender and with Land Cruiser and even Unimog, find it sick with a corresponding all -wheel drive to master my everyday life! I don’t go to get the roll with the excavator either!!!!
