Michael Lohscheller, CEO of OPEL AUTOMOBILE GmbH, has today Strategic Plan Pace! presented for Opel / Vauxhall, which should help to promote sustainable competitiveness and growth. Pace! aims to generate a positive free cash flow and a recurring operational margin permanently. In the first step, by 2020, the margin should be 2%, until 2026 at 6%.

Due to synergies with PSA, up to 2020 1.1 billion euros and by 2026 1.7 billion euros are realized. OPEL / VAUXHALL has also set itself the goal of the European CO2 market leader, which is to be realized, among other things, by free, full access to PSA technologies. Electric cars play an important role here. By 2024, all European car carlashes should be equipped with a pure battery electric drive or plug-in hybrid with efficient internal combustion engines.

Four pure electric cars are launched by Opel / Vauxhall until the year 2020. These include, for example, the Grandland X PHEV and the next generation of Corsa as a fully electric vehicle. Right short term the competitiveness should be increased by 2020. The overall efficiencies are also increased by reducing the complexity across all functions. Further information on the associated number material can be found in the current press release. The two Groupe PSA platforms CMP and EMP2 are localized in all OPEL / VAUXHALL plants, new vehicle assignments to the works will continue to lead to better utilization of them in the next few years.

“Pace! will unleash our full potential. This plan is of the utmost importance for the company to protect our employees from headwind and make Opel / Vauxhall to a sustainable, profitable, electrified and global company. Our future is secured and we will contribute with German excellence to develop the Groupe PSA. The implementation has already begun with all teams who want to achieve the goals.”- Michael Lohscheller, CEO of OPEL AUTOMOBILE GmbH

The plan is designed with the clear intention to maintain all the works and to refrain from forced reductions in Europe. The necessary and sustainable reduction in labor costs should be achieved with thought-out measures such as innovative working time concepts, voluntary programs or early retirement regulations. All new Opel / Vauxhall vehicles are constructed in Russelsheim and converted into a global competence center for the entire Groupe PSA. Overall, the number of platforms that OPEL / VAUXHALL uses for its cars is reduced from currently nine to two to 2024.

Also in the area of the drive strands one will take place from currently ten to four optimizations. This reduction will have a positive impact on production complexity, which allows economies of scale and synergies to contribute to better overall stable. Opel / Vauxhall will be faster than originally expected to switch to the PSA vehicle architecture. From 2024, all Opel / Vauxhall car models are based on shared Groupe PSA architectures. The company launches nine new models until 2020. In order to promote growth in financial attractive business with light commercial vehicles (LCV), Opel / Vauxhall will launch new models and open up new markets with the clear goal of increasing the paragraph of light commercial vehicles by 25% by 2020.
