As early as May of last year, we were able to announce that the sports car manufacturer Porsche is expanding its range of hybrids and has since also been offering the Cayenne as a plug-in hybrid. Shortly before the IAA, after the Panamera, the SUV series will also be crowned with a plug-in hybrid as the new top model.

Forward, you will see the Cayenne Turbo S e-Hybrid and the Cayenne Turbo S e-Hybrid Coupe as plug-in hybrid on the street. Its system output of 500 kW (680 hp) from the intelligent interaction of a four-liter V8 engine (404 kW/550 hp) and an electric motor (100 kW/136 hp) integrated into the eight-speed Tiptronic S is convincing, at least from a sporty perspective to know. Both models go from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds, with a top speed of 295 km/h.

With regard to the range, only “sprint values” are to be expected. Both variants of the top-of-the-range Cayenne model only cover up to 40 kilometers purely electrically. The energy required for this comes from the 14.1 kWh lithium-ion battery, which is placed below the floor of the load compartment. The high-voltage battery is fully charged within 2.4 hours with the standard 7.2 kW on-board AC charger via a 400 volt connection with 16 amp fuse. At the household socket with 230 volts and 10 amps, the charging process takes six hours.

In terms of comfort, the electric motor brings a number of new features to the Cayenne. All hybrid models from Porsche have the standard stationary air conditioning on board, which can be controlled directly via the PCM and remotely via the Porsche Connect app, and which enables the vehicle to be heated and cooled even when the ignition is switched off.

It should be mentioned that in addition to the two top models, the new Cayenne E-Hybrid Coupe with a system output of 340 kW (462 hp), 700 Nm of torque and an electric range of up to 43 kilometers has now been added to the hybrid range from Porsche. The Cayenne E-Hybrid, which now has a petrol particle filter, is also available again.
