Mercedes-Benz has introduced a fully electric Project Maybach concept, which was designed by the deceased Louis Vuitton Fashion Designer Virgil Abloh. As Project Maybach presents itself the fully electric officer, which will never come on the road. Rather, he is considered a view where the design and occurrence of the brand could develop in the future.
How Mercedes shows each element of the Project Maybach from the ground up new. Already at first glance, it becomes clear that Abloh has created a design that differs from anything that has been developed by Mercedes-Benz so far. In collaboration with Gorden Wagener, Abloh has interpreted the luxurious identity of Mercedes-Maybach with a new design language and shifted the boundaries of function, style and collaborative creativity. The off-road had been inspired by nature. The result is a two-seater, battery electrical off-road coupe with huge Gran Turismo proportions, large rail bikes and striking attachments.
“Mercedes-Benz is shaken over the death of Virgil Abloh. Our sincere thoughts are with Virgil’s family and his team. Now that we make the world of our cooperation and Virgil‘s unique vision of the public, we want to celebrate the work of a truly unique design talent, which created infinite possibilities of cooperation through its unbridled imagination and has all inspired his work.”- Mercedes-Benz AG
Both for ablOh and trucks, a responsible vision of future design was the focus. Complete creative freedom – detached from production requirements – enabled the design teams to imagine how the future of electrical driving could look like. Thus, for example, under the transparent surface of the front hood of the showcar solar cells, which increase the imaginary range of the Project Maybach.
It is designed that the Project Maybach is not afraid of polarizing through provocative design. Because this is precisely this manifests the concept vehicle Ablohs passion to question the status quo as well as to rewrite the rules for sophisticated design. At almost six meters in length, the Concept Car understands the motto “Sophisticated Luxury Meeting Outdoor Adventure” skilfully implemented.

More concrete for the series will be with the Concept EQs. With this Mercedes-Maybach gives a concrete view of the first full-electric series model of the traditional luxury brand. The SUV concept vehicle is based on the modular architecture for electric vehicles of the luxury and upper class of Mercedes-Benz and leads the exclusivity of Maybach into a locally emission-free future
