In June, at the height of the scrapping fever, it already topped the hit list of small cars in Germany. Now the Polo has recaptured it, displacing the Opel Corsa. Otherwise, the car market currently offers few surprises. With two exceptions.
E.In the month before the year, the car market in Germany is still at a high level. 279,725 brand-new cars resulted in a 19.7 percent increase in registrations compared to the same month last year. The annual balance sheet for 2009 thus includes 3.59 million cars up to November 30th.
There were only two changes in leadership when the scrappage bonus effects were slowly coming to an end. In the small car category, the VW Polo and in the luxury class the Mercedes S-Class are now in the lead. The proportion of passenger cars with diesel engines rose to 35 percent. True to the annual trend and therefore not surprisingly, the significant growth in the micro, small and compact car segments.
What is astonishing, however, is that despite the crisis and the scrappage bonus, from which the above-mentioned segments in particular benefited, the mini-vans and off-road vehicles were astonishingly popular with German car buyers and can already come up with better annual figures than in 2008.
Nevertheless, the main trend of the year is towards smaller vehicles, which has a positive effect on CO2 emissions. Last month, the average value of all new car registrations was 153.8 g / km.
November was a good month for German automobile manufacturers. With the exception of BMW (-7.0%), all were on a growth path. For the second month in a row, Bayern were able to sell more cars worldwide in November than in 2009. A total of 107,686 BMW, Mini vehicles are and Rolls-Royce were sold, which corresponds to an increase of 11.5 percent compared to the same month last year. Viewed over the year, however, BMW remains significantly below the result of 2008 with 12.2 percent fewer cars sold.
So far this year, Opel (+41.1%) and VW (+35.2%) have recorded the highest gains. According to their own statements, the ailing Russelsheimers are back in the black in Germany. Opel had sold 321,558 cars on the German market by the end of November. Looking at the numbers, an Opel spokesman said that it had been "a good year for Opel" so far. The company has regained shares in the German market and is again number two behind Volkswagen.
After all, Mercedes also significantly increased its worldwide sales in November. The core brand Mercedes-Benz increased its deliveries by 19 percent to 88,600 cars compared to the previous year, making it the premium brand with the greatest growth worldwide, as Daimler announced. According to the information, the cause was double-digit growth rates worldwide for the E-Class and the new generation of the S-Class, as well as high growth rates in numerous regions. In Germany, Mercedes led the sales charts in November in the upper-class segment with the S-Class and in the middle-class segment with the C-Class.
Among the foreign brands, Nissan (+170%) and Renault (+65%) recorded the largest gains.
An upward trend was also noticeable in the used car market in November. All vehicle sectors developed positively. 467,616 cars changed owners, an increase of 2.6 percent. There were a total of 538,623 changes in ownership. After eleven months, the annual balance stands at 6.39 million vehicles.
