According to Renault, it is clear that it has been a pioneer in e-mobility since 2008 and is therefore the European market leader in electric vehicles today. In 2020, the Renault Captur with E-TECH plug-in hybrid drive should reinforce this.
By 2022, Renault wants to expand its electric range worldwide to eight purely electric and twelve electrified models. All aimed at the mass market. The new Renault ZOE only recently saw the light of day, and there are also rumors of an E-Twingo. From 2020, the first Clio Hybrid and the plug-in hybrid versions of Renault’s best-selling Captur and Megane will be launched in Europe.
New E-TECH plug-in hybrid drive from 2020 for the Captur
The PHEV drive is based on a 1.6-liter petrol engine, two electric motors, a battery with a capacity of 9.8 kWh and an innovative multi-mode transmission. The battery of the partially electrified vehicle can be charged with a mode 2 charging cable at household sockets and a mode 3 cable at public charging stations and private wall boxes.
Renault’s PHEV system is characterized by efficient recuperation when decelerating. Furthermore, the Captur E-TECH plug-in will always start in electric mode. Thanks to the combination of high-capacity battery and high recuperation performance, it can travel up to 45 kilometers and at a speed of up to 135 km/h purely electrically.
Renault Captur uses modular CMF-B platform
The Captur uses the so-called modular CMF-B platform, shared by alliance partners Renault, Nissan and Mitsubishi, as its base. The technical basis, which serves as the foundation for the new Captur, includes an electronic architecture that was specially designed for the use of the latest driver assistance systems.
Otherwise, the new Captur adopts the design of its predecessor, which was built 1.2 million times, and sharpens it with even more expressive shapes and even more athletic lines. With a length of 4.23 meters, the new edition is eleven centimeters longer than the first model generation. The wheelbase has also grown by two centimeters to 2.63 meters. This ensures better space and more balanced and dynamic proportions.
