More and more mineral oil companies are jumping on the rapidly accelerating train of electromobility. Shell – one of the world’s largest corporations – has now opened its first charging hub in the world in Fulham, London. To this end, all existing petrol and diesel pumps were removed and ultra-fast charging points were installed. Another milestone in Shell‘s electric mobility strategy.
Shell Fulham offers nine charging points that can charge up to 175 kW. Istvan Kapitány, Global Executive Vice President of Mobility at Shell, knows that “EV drivers are looking for a charging experience that is as fast, convenient and hassle-free as possible“. The Charging Hub in Fulham would fully live up to this claim. UK Transport Minister Trudy Harrison is enthusiastic: “Charging hubs like this are exactly what we need to make the e-mobility transformation as easy as possible for drivers, anywhere in the country. The UK government would have allocated £2.5 billion in purchase premiums and infrastructure to support this transformation. One sees it with benevolence that the companies are now also making their contribution.
The charging experience is actually pleasant: the charging hub is covered with wood on which solar panels are attached. There is a comfortable seating area, free WiFi, as well as a coffee shop and a Waitrose convenience store. The charging stations are fed with 100% renewable energy.
In Great Britain, too, the sales figures for e-cars are increasing significantly: in December 2021 there were 27.705 fully electric cars were sold, which corresponds to around 25.5 percent of all new registrations. Sufficient charging options are therefore a big issue. Shell plans to build 50 in the UK by 2025.000 charging points on public roads and 800 charging points at 100 Waitrose shopping centers across the country. The network of charging stations at truck stops is to increase from the current 119 to over 5.000 grow. In 2021, the Shell Recharge charging network was recognized as “Best Universal Charging Network” by DrivingElectric Awards.

In case of doubt, however, first for the accused
🙂
It should be so.
Charge your e-car, relax – alone or with friends, have a drink, go to the quiet place, possibly. with a purchase and since there is plenty of space even with small charging stations, you can also install PV systems to produce a small part of the electricity cheaply on site.
It seems that the charging infrastructure is finally moving forward 🙂
A good development, as long as the green electricity is really produced from renewable sources and not from gas or nuclear power ennobled by greenwashing! If the few remaining combustion engine drivers then want to experience authentically how e-car drivers usually still feel today, the fuel pumps are hidden somewhere in the farthest corner of a rest area, of course without a roof, of course without the possibility of cleaning the windows and with the furthest possible routes to restaurant and toilet!
I haven’t seen a single charging station at a gas station in my immediate vicinity. Can someone tell me where they should be? (Rhine-Main area and Lower Franconia).
