Skoda Enyaq iV: maximum range corrected to 537 km-range

At the presentation of the Skoda Enyaq iV it was said that the electric SUV would cover a maximum of 510 km. Quite a decent value that has impressed itself on us. In the meantime, Skoda has corrected the maximum range to an impressive 537 km.

That comes from an infographic from the company.

The prognosis for the market launch was also too conservative: delivery should actually start in spring, but according to information we received at the driving event, it started in February. Speaking of which, we already have a review of the Enyaq 80 iV.

A look at the configurator shows that three versions can currently be ordered: Enyaq 50 iV with 109 kW and 52 kWh battery, 60 iV with 109 kW and 58 kWh battery and 80 iV with 150 kW and 77 kWh battery . The variant with the greatest range is the 80s version with said 537 km. In addition, two all-wheel drive versions have been announced:

Here is our updated overview table, which compares the old range information from the launch and the new (changes or new information highlighted):

You can see that the range of the basic version 50 iV was first corrected up and then down again. In the 60s and 80s version, on the other hand, the range indicated increased. Afterwards we find out that the bigger jump in the maximum range was communicated at the beginning of March, what we did not realize correctly – nostra culpa. In any case, with 537 km, the car now has a place in our ranking of the electric cars with the greatest range really deserved.

For comparison: the VW ID.4 can do a maximum of 522 km with the 77 kWh battery, the similarly sized Hyundai Ioniq 5 a maximum of 480 km, the Kia EV6 up to 510 km and the Nissan Ariya is so far specified with 500 km. Tesla, otherwise always very far ahead in terms of range, only achieves 505 km with its Model Y.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E is said to be capable of up to 610 km – but because of the larger battery (88 kWh net), that's no wonder. If you classify the 4.71 meter long Ford in the middle class, you could say that the Enyaq is currently the compact SUV with the greatest range. But that is purely a matter of definition, the Enyaq is not much smaller at 4.65 meters.

In addition, Skoda has published a clear table on the charging options (see above). We have taken the findings from this into our table. This includes that the basic version only charges with 7.2 kW alternating current (AC) and 50 kW direct current (DC), while the higher versions create 11 kW AC and 100 or 125 kW DC.

Information is now also available on aerodynamics. At 0.257, the drag coefficient is not bad, but not really great either: The Nissan Ariya is clearly exceeded (0.297) and the VW ID.4 (0.28), but the Tesla Model Y should have a drag coefficient of 0.23.

When the all-wheel drive versions will start, Skoda has not yet revealed. Presumably it will be available at about the same time as the (not yet confirmed) all-wheel drive versions of the VW ID.4 and the Audi Q4 e-tron and Q4 e-tron Sportback. We may find out more about this on April 14, when Audi unveils its newcomers.
