Not the EQC becomes the first production model of the product and technology brand EQ, but the battery-electric versions of Smart, as Mercedes-Benz announced in the context of the Geneva Motor Show. The Special Model SMART EQ Fortwo / Forfour Edition Nightsky was presented at the Geneva automotive salon with the new name and accent parts in the EQ typical blue. From the 06. March can first be ordered the Fortwo and Fortwo Convertible, in the spring then the Edition Nightsky comes to the dealers.

The Smart EQ Fortwo (electricity consumption combined: 13.1 – 12.9 kWh / 100 km; CO2 emissions combined: 0 g / km) and Smart EQ forfour (electricity consumption combined: 13.2 – 13.1 kWh / 100 km; CO2 emissions combined: 0 g / km) come with an optimized loading technology as well as a new app around the electromobility. With the idea of the special model, smart emphasizes the importance of e-mobility for its own company.
Currently, Smart is the only car manufacturer worldwide, which offers its model range with both combustion engines and fully battery electrical. Furthermore, the consistent change from the combustion is sought on the electric drive. Since 2017, smart in the US, Canada and Norway has only been electricity on the road, from 2020 it will also be used in Germany and Western Europe only Smart with battery electric drive. The rest of the world is followed by a short time.
From the point of view of Mercedes-Benz, it is therefore only consistently the new SMART models of our own product and technology mark EQ. Under EQ, the company carries together a comprehensive ecosystem ecosystem of products, services, technologies and innovations. The spectrum ranges from electric vehicles via wallboxes and charging services to home energy storage. The name EQ is two meanings: “Electric Intelligence” as well as “emotion and intelligence”.
The first Mercedes-Benz series model of the new technology and product brand EQ, the EQC, will be produced from 2019 in the Mercedes-Benz plant Bremen. It is based on the CONCEPT EQ shown in Paris 2016.
