Tesla Gigafactory 3: Is the Model 3 still rolling off the assembly line in 2019??-gigafactory

Already at the beginning of March we shared a look at the progress of Tesla’s Gigafactory 3 project. At the time, it seemed as if completion could be held until the end of May 2019. A new drone video update of the Tesla Gigafactory 3 construction site also seems to confirm this.

In the video itself, the main building seems almost finished. A feat of strength if you look at the course of time so far. About ten months ago, Tesla announced a deal with the Shanghai government to build a wholly owned local factory, and just about seven months ago, they secured the 210-acre land for Gigafactory 3 in China. The groundbreaking ceremony for the new Tesla factory took place in January.

At the moment, the timetable is still being adhered to, with the Gigafactory 3 in Shanghai expected to be completed in May. They are also on course with regard to the construction and setup of the assembly lines for electric cars.

Just a few weeks ago it was mostly steel structure, but Tesla contractors quickly completed most of the factory’s roof and walls. But completing the building is actually the easiest part of the ambitious manufacturing project.

Tesla also wants to have vehicle production at the site by the end of the year and has to deploy complex production lines quickly. These would have to be up and running by the end of the year so that production of the first vehicles can start as planned this year.

As an image of symbolic importance, Musk recently hinted that Tesla will be turning 3 by the end of the year.000 Model 3 vehicles at Gigafactory 3 in Shanghai. Tesla’s chief executive said they plan to start production early in the fourth quarter.
