Tesla stamps S Plaid+ one: Musk calls it “just not so good” news

The new edition of the Tesla Model S, the S Plaid, can achieve a top speed of 320 km/h in variant +. Now Elon Musk surprisingly shared the setting of the S Plaid + on Twitter. You can see what the old Model S has on it in the video.

The Tesla boss cited the reason that the variant with the high performance of three electric motors with a total of 1.100 hp is unnecessary, since the basic version of the Model S Plaid already covered the most requirements of future customers. In a corresponding tweet, Musk dictionary and only wrote “Plaid + is painted. No need because the plaid is already good enough ".

Previously, the delivery of the e-car by a week from 3. On the 10. June moved. Now Musk confirms the complete end. According to the company, the ‘Plaid+’ of the Tesla Model S has a range between 630 and 660 kilometers. The acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is two seconds. If the vehicle had gone into production, this would be the fastest series vehicles in the world. It leaves super sports cars like Bugatti Chiron (2.4 seconds) or the Porsche Taycan Turbo S (2.6 seconds) behind. But the new Model S Plaid should also complete the sprint from 0 to 60 miles per hour (96.56 km/h) in 1.99 seconds.

Even if the Model S Plaid with an estimated sales price of 120.$,000 is certainly not a bargain, this is far below what super sports cars cost. Furthermore, the Model S Plaid by Tesla as four -seater sedan with high everyday suitability is touted while two -seater sports cars are more for the racetrack.

For the real reason why Musk stopped the plaid + so shortly before the market launch, there is no further information. Insiders from the automotive industry suspect that Tesla has to save on production costs in order to continue to be profitable. The company therefore wants to limit its model range to a few vehicles and do not produce niche models. In addition, a novel battery should have been used in the Plaid +, which may not be available for the Tesla Roadster planned in 2023.

If you want to be considered an environmentally friendly manufacturer of automobiles, such models do not make sense. The justification that is given to not bring the model, but sounds a bit flimsy.
