The situation is paradoxical: so far, the vast majority of cars on German roads with petrol or diesel have been driving with petrol or diesel. On the "New mobility"-Messe IAA, however, show the German car manufacturers only electrical innovations. With which BMW, Daimler or VW want to convince customers.

The German auto industry is in a radical transformation and apparently wants to separate from a large part of its current customers as soon as possible if they do not go along: "Electrical or nothing" Is the motto not only at Daimler. Even if there are still well more than 90 percent of all cars on German roads with petrol or diesel. All whirring in step at the IAA car show – which is certainly no longer allowed to be called auto show, but as a "IAA Mobility" all means of transportation down to the bike.

Diesel and petrol engine have to stay outside

Audi, BMW or Daimler no longer dare to present gasoline or diesel vehicles at all. The signal is clear: the combustion engineer is much faster than most car buyers can imagine that. At least in Germany and Europe. Anyone who buys a Mercedes, VW or BMW in the future will do so either with an electric motor or no longer. No matter whether he buys a smart, a family SUV or an S-Class. Site shows the electric shocks from Munich, Stuttgart and Wolfsburg.

Audi

The Audi Grandsphere Concept study gives a fairly specific view of the next generation of the Audi A8. At 75 to 80 percent, designer Marc Licht appreciates the series maturity of the concept car, which has a remarkable presence with a length of 5.35 meters and a wheelbase of 3.19 meters. Audi’s new flagship, which is due to herald a new aegis at the turn of 2024/25, breaks with many conventions. The Audi Grandsphere has enough strength. This comes from two electric motors with a total of 530 kW / 721 hp performance, a torque of 930 Newton meters and a top speed beyond the 200 km / h. This is pure driving dynamic sovereignty, but old world. The new world is called autonomous driving. The Grandsphere should master the robo driving of the level 4 in the second half of the decade (the driver can then let go of the steering wheel while driving and no longer has to look at the street).

Sven Hoppe/dpa Oliver Zipse, CEO of BMW AG, presents the “BMW I Vision Circular” before the IAA Mobility begins.

BMW

BMW relies entirely on its new electrical models i4 and IX and, with the study of the i Vision Circular, shows that a car can also be in harmony with nature and recycling. “Dealing with CO2 emissions has become a central evaluation factor for entrepreneurial action. The crucial currency for climate protection is: how strongly can we reduce the CO2 impression of vehicles over their entire life cycle?“, Said BMW CEO Oliver Zipse. The circular is said to have been created entirely from recycled materials.

The head of the Munich carmaker is the only German auto CEO that does not spread the very big euphoria in terms of emobility. "There is no reason to prematurely announce an exit", Zipse said at the fair about the future of the combustion engines. the "Automotive week" writes: "In 2030, Zipses assessment may be electrical according to half of the new vehicles – provided that the infrastructure for charging waxes quickly enough. If you no longer operate the other half of the market, you will go to the shrinkage course ‘:’ If you want to be a profitable, growing company, you have to have the offer, ‘says Zipse. Technology is the only way to do this."

Mercedes

At Daimler it says "electrical or nothing" – Mercedes is stored by his petrol engine development to China, and in Europe there will soon be only e-cars. EQE, Maybach EQS, G-Class (future EQG) or AMG GT rolls with battery power. The EQE is a kind of reduction in the electrical S-Class EQs; Visually, the car could also be the facelift of a Citroen C5. Daimler wants to score with the luxury cruiser, which is mainly designed for the Chinese market. To launch the market, in addition to the EQE 350 model with rear wheel drive and 215 kW (292 hp), a second, not yet specified model.

Performance variants with around 500 kW (680 hp) are also being planned. The range is said to lie via the built-in battery with a capacity of around 90 kWh at up to 660 kilometers according to WLTP standard. A recharging on DC charging stations is possible with up to 170 kW.

Although the diesel-G will roll off the band for a while, there will also be no alternative to the electric drive at Daimler in a few years.

Porsche

While the Porsche Mission E has long since become the successful series model Taycan, with which the Zuffenhauseners made the leap into the electrical age, sooner or later the Neunelfer is on the collar. Because there is now an electrician for club sport. The 4.33 meter long "Mission R" makes 500 kW/680 hp in racing mode.

The electric motor on the front axle provides 320 kW/435 hp, which at the rear of up to 480 kW/652 hp. The almost 1100 hp all-wheel drive in qualifying mode accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 2.5 seconds and is over 300 km/h fast. The study has 900 volt technology and a charging power of up to 340 kW, so that the 80 kWh battery can be charged from 5 to 80 percent in 15 minutes.

Smart

The Smart brand has removed the most away from its origin. What insiders had known for a long time is now officially clear: the two -seater city flea has had its day, the new smart will be an electric SUV. The design is based on the taste of the Chinese customers, because the car is developed and built with the Chinese cooperation partner Geely. The battery-electric study is noticeable due to a large glass panorama roof and a striking light signature.

Black design elements, for example on the wheel arches and 21-inch wheels, should provide a robust impression. The fond doors are in opposite ones. Thanks to a wheelbase of 2.75 meters, the smart wants to offer a lot of space in the interior. The study still comes up with four seats, the series version will have five. The center console floating between the front seats goes into the dashboard. The central control element is the free-standing 3D touchscreen with a screen diagonal of 12.8 inches.

In terms of price, it should be at 20.Go off 000 euros – minus electrical subsidy of 9000 euros that would be 11.000 euros. That would also be necessary, because in this price segment Renault’s cheap subsidiary Dacia also moves with the Dacia Spring. Until the ID.Life is to be bought, but in contrast to the Dacia, a few more years.

What future does the IAA have?

After the departure from Frankfurt, the international car exhibition will take place in Munich for the first time this year. However, there is not much to see on the Isar of the glory of past decades, because the automotive leading fair has become more of an ecological show around the mobility. After all: the innovations of the German car manufacturers are quite top -class – you would have more new sheet metal "normal" Iaa also not seen.

Not only the Japanese manufacturers with brands such as Mazda, Toyota, Subaru, Daihatsu, Nissan, Lexus or Mitsubishi, but also the complete Stellantis group. So neither Opel nor Citroen, DS, Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Jeep or Peugeot are represented at the fair.

Small manufacturers get their place

The noble and sports car brands Maserati, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Ferrari, Rolls-Royce, Bentley or Bugatti and Rimac. Only the Hyundai brand and the Chinese have made a real contribution to the show with Great Wall and the electro brands Wey and Ora. At least with the "Blue Lane" The German thoroughness has flipped in: The route leading by the A94 motorway through the city is not blue, but separated with yellow stripes. Most drivers are likely to consider them a construction site track – and there has not yet been a lot of traffic on the lane reserved for Stromer, taxis and buses. But that could change if visitors can also go on a test drive in the coming days.

Who is surprised? The EU and the national German climate input does not allow anything. … Who is surprised? The EU and the national German climate input does not allow anything else. The Paris climate agreement is carried out in this country at the expense of the taxpayer regardless of losses. However, what few people know, China currently emits more CO2 emissions than all industrialized countries and has only approved the Paris climate agreement on a prerequisite if it continues to operate its coal-fired power plants and even expand them in order to become a country with prosperity. This "prosperity" for the "Developing country" We are currently financed by China, through more and more taxes and taxes. But I don’t feel like that!

  2. Herbert KOpnick,
Since they apparently do not recognize their "nonsense" & "nonsens", here the tutoring as a question; Where do you have to pay tax benefits from diesel with or counter-financing? This is somewhere on its electricity bill "Diesel delivery"? And if you actually think you have to finance diesel, I have bad news for you when the diesel is gone, it will be really expensive for you!

  3. Conclusion of the IAA Munich 2021: burner ade!
You burn 45 x more often. They are much more maintenance. Compared to a Tesla Model S, the maintenance costs are 10 x as high. Combined are actually heating. Only 25% of the amount of energy are implemented in drive power, 75% in heat. The efficiency of e-cars is almost three times better taking all losses into account with more than 70%. V-engines also emit environmentally harmful exhaust gases. And exactly where people move on foot. That crazy: the people then breathe in the exhaust gases directly and subsequently damage nitrogen oxides & fine dust their health. And then the CO2 emissions that heat up the climate. Actually, burners should no longer be approved due to their disastrous inefficiency and their malice effects on humans & climate.

… extremely wrong. 1. I don’t have a high red head. 2. Don’t snort with anger. 3. Hammere not in the keyboard. 4. Which is why I don’t lose any warmth senselessly (as with your diesel, which has 75% heat loss). 5. I have no dislike against them (only against stupid comments). 6. Do not hyperventiliere, my breathing CO2 moves in the normal range. PS: So, you know, don’t be angry with me, but ..

  5. I am split ….
Professionally, I am a specialist advisor in the field, drive approx. 70.000 km a year. These are technically demanding products that require a personal idea with advice. The last car was a diesel 2.0 liters with 150 hp, now I’m driving a hybrid / petrol engine. It is the same basic model, but it drives completely differently. The hybrid does not like my boat trailer at all, the petrol engine is completely overwhelmed and with e-support the battery is empty under 100 km. If I drive the car alone, it is very agile and efficient. But what is the Bundeswehr, the police, the emergency services when all German manufacturers have sworn off the combustion engines? Are then rolled out kilometers long charging cables in the Luneburg Heath? (BW site)

  6. Wait !
What should die there ! Just because the media cheer the battery boxes in the endless loop does not mean that the combustion engines disappear. It is still a long way to go by 2050, there are still different governments. eventl. Then the thinking about this path begins. You read a lot about "want, want, should", I don’t see much of it on the streets or where do they all go around ??? IAA can either be renamed or remove it in the future. You can already see from the cancellations of many manufacturers. They can make a trade fair for e-wheels and the mini cars, that’s it…..

  7. E-fuel and hydrogen for air traffic
E-fuel and hydrogen in the combustion engine is only a temporary solution. The goal should be to convert e-fuel and hydrogen directly into the fuel cell to electric car flow. How do you want to operate heavy traffic and air traffic? With heavy batteries? Just read the sequencer from Kalmond Kess. He writes how traffic is running in 2035. Clearly the efficiency must be improved here. But the overall efficiency of the e-car is currently not much better.

  8. Why Brenners – with the advance notice –
Because the EU wants to be climate -neutral by 2050 & D until 2045. And e-cars are significantly more climate-friendly than gasoline & diesel. Calculated from battery production to decommissioning, the emissions are 2/3 lower than for comparable new combustion engineers. Says the latest ICCT study. By 2030 the "emission advantage" WG improves. the increasing proportion of electricity generation even to 3/4. For electric cars that are fully operated with green electricity, the CO₂ balance sheet is up to 81% below that of a petrol engine. With hybrid cars, the advantage is only 20%. E-fuel cannot save the combustion engine, since electricity consumption/km about 6-7 x as high as at BEV. The combustion engine has finished. This is consensus in politics & business & the message of the IAA Munich 2021.

  9. The EU never becomes
Climate-neutral- Seriously believe that the citizens of the Klammen South and Eastern countries buy these completely overpriced electric cars? They don’t even have enough charging stations about the already small number of these boxes "Fuel" to supply. The eastern states drive diesel – should we provide their truck with exceptional permits? To the delight of the local freighters? Thinking is the order of the day…

  10. E-car/Daimler controls with brain flows
Daimler Benz presented an electric car at the IAA, which is controlled using brain streams. I recently read that in the sequencer of Kalmond Kess. In this trend-setting future novel, the brain currents can be used to read the thought. The facial expressions for control are also used there!

Value Mr. KOpnick, even if you all in D, we are generously abolished 50mio cars (also no new mobile), it will only be approx. Help 6 months. In the event of a population growth of approx. 80 million per year, umpteen new coal -fired power plants and tens of hundreds of thousands of new (technically outdated) bead on the streets in Asia and Africa. You can not get a 200 liter barrel, with a 10cm hole in the floor with a tealo effect, false approach!!! Therefore, I would also be the signing, "Groesster Reibach of all time," one could also say the greatest folk regulation of all time.

Value Mr. Koepnick – full approval, but for whom and who pays the colliery?? The chance of a new economic wound is, like the woocative lottery ticket in hand with faith, from Monday a better life. On the subject of politics works, a bit different, – politics certainly not the market. Politicians are sure to try to enforce their political projects with all power and all permitted and unauthorized tricks, ultimately the consumer decides what is produced. Sure, not just consumers – if they are a power, they are a power. Since CO2 is a global problem, the compulsory incorporation of e-mobile would actually only be the great Reibach for a few corporations. The global CO2 content helps absolutely nothing. Pto
