Up to 60 km / h faster two-seater is still 20 centimeters shorter than a Smart
A year ago, Toyota introduced a small electric car called the "C + pod", but initially only sold it to certain corporate customers and communities. In the future, however, the tiny battery-electric will be offered in general, as the manufacturer has now announced.
However, the vehicles are not sold, but leased from dealers across Japan. Leasing has the advantage that the batteries can be used again or recycled by Toyota after the usage phase.

With a length of less than 2.50 meters, the car is 20 centimeters shorter than the Smart Fortwo. It has two seats; the storage compartment behind is not very deep, but quite high and wide. The car is intended for everyone who often covers short distances, such as singles or senior citizens. Among the benefits are supposed to ease of use, environmental friendliness and safety. The car even has an anti-collision system.
An electric motor on the rear axle provides the drive. The performance is not specified, but the maximum speed is 60 km / h – so it's enough for the city. The lithium-ion battery provides a range of 150 kilometers (without specifying the standard). The C + Pod is charged at the household socket. The reference prices for leasing start at 1,650,000 yen (equivalent to just under 13,000 euros). For comparison: you pay almost 22,000 euros for the Smart Fortwo.

This has now been available for purchase as C + Walk T since October 2021, as Toyota reported. It is a three-wheeled vehicle that is driven standing. Alternatively, it can be used to drive a wheelchair or a special seat:
