With 140 hp, the Fiat 500 C becomes a little riot box as an Abarth. After all, the 500 reaches 205 km / h with it.

At the rear, things get a bit rowdy: Two thick tailpipes and a suggested diffuser should make an impression.

The 500 C is not a fully-fledged convertible, but the very large roll-top roof lets some light and air into the interior
The Fiat 500 Cabrio is the typical woman’s car – cute, cute, round. But as an Abarth with 140 hp, fun is over.
JNow it’s getting spiky: After Abarth‘s Fiat 500 sedan was refined two years ago, both optically and technically, it’s now the turn of the convertible. The Italian tuning specialist, whose logo shows a scorpion, has strengthened the small roll-top Fiat with a 1.4-liter turbo gasoline engine to 140 hp. So the handy 500 wants to play in the league of the small but powerful ruckus boxes.
Where else the Polo GTIs of this world with around 180 hp or more drive the testosterone level of the mostly male drivers upwards, however, he takes things a little easier. And that’s a good thing, because the martial image just doesn’t fit the Cinquecento. The "oh-is-he-sweet" exclamations are also standard on the Abarth, despite the slightly widened sills and twin tailpipes. A charm bolt doesn’t turn into a bad boy anytime soon.
The open Abarth 500 does not even try to target customers who love horsepower, but rather targets women in particular with its attractive appearance. The two-tone paintwork (surcharge 800 euros) suits him really well, regardless of whether you opt for the harmoniously coordinated gray shade or prefer the white and black color classic. The roof color can be ordered to match.
The Abarth 500C comes with a wide range of comfort and safety features ex works. The interior is two-tone and can also be customized. The scorpion placed in the middle of the leather steering wheel, which is flattened at the bottom, is striking. The arachnid can also be found on the aluminum pedals. The wobbly lever for adjusting the seat height looks less attractive. If you want, you can order leather upholstery or automatic air conditioning and put together your own dream car using a long list of accessories.
So is the Cinquecento just a lifestyle wimp after all? Be careful, the Abarth 500C is not that harmless after all. The 1.4-liter turbo does "only" 140 hp, but the vehicle only weighs around a ton in total. So the Italian sprints off very agile, in 8.1 seconds 100 km / h is reached and a top speed of 205 km / h is possible. It is slowed down a bit by the semi-automatic five-speed gearbox, which is very sluggish in automatic mode and lets the driver acknowledge the gear changes with a slight nod of the head.
It gets a lot better as soon as the pilot takes over changing gears himself using the rocker switches on the steering wheel. Then the gearbox and sportiness of the vehicle go better together. Normally, 180 Newton meters of torque are available for 2000 tours; by activating the sport button, it briefly increases to 206 Nm. The Abarth rushes through tight corners like a one, the stiff chassis is a pleasure, as are the brakes. An electronic limited slip differential prevents the wheels from spinning.
But the Abarth 500C is also fun without rushing around bends and rushing to speed. Simply open the electric roll-up roof, enjoy the sun’s rays while cruising and enjoy the "oh-is-he-sweet" exclamations – and then let the scorpion sting again when the opportunity arises. From June 26th, the 500cc Abarth will be on the market as a convertible. When it comes to pricing, Fiat is self-confident and calls for at least 21,000 euros.
