The 25 km / h fast electric moped from Sweden can now also be rented
You don't feel like an e-bike because you don't want to pedal to get ahead, but an electric scooter is too bulky for you? How about a slim electric moped like the Vassla Bike?.
We introduce the thing to you; You can watch it live at the IAA in Munich.
Vassla had previously offered an electric scooter, the Vassla 2. Now the Vassla Bike is being added. The Swedish startup, founded in 2017, describes it as a "mixture of scooter and e-bike", but actually it is a moped with an electric drive. That means: Similar to the electric scooter and the electric kick scooter, there is a throttle grip, but no pedals. The vehicle drives 25 km / h like an e-bike, but it doesn't have a hybrid drive – you don't need good leg muscles here. The feet are made from fold-out notches.
Disadvantage: You are not allowed to ride on the bike path unless it says "Moped free" underneath. So in most cities you will end up on the streets. And there you are much slower at 25 km / h than with the electric scooter (or the S-Pedelec, which is also 45 km / h). In addition, you obviously need a moped driver's license, an insurance license plate and a helmet.
The advantages over the electric scooter include the lower weight and the smaller footprint. The bike can even be folded up (after removing a couple of safety bolts). The range of 40 kilometers is sufficient for the city. The battery is stowed in the seat tube and can be easily removed from above. Another highlight is the suspension of the rear wheel.

At 1,995 euros, however, the electric moped is significantly more expensive than a mediocre bike. That is why Vassla recently created the Vassla Club, an option for renting bikes. A subscription costs 79 euros per month. In addition to the bike including helmet and lock, this also includes insurance, service and home delivery.
After the three-month minimum term, the subscription can be canceled on a monthly basis at any time. After Berlin, the rental model will be rolled out in other major German cities as well as in Vienna.
