In Beijing, the Golf becomes a 400 hp sports car

At the motor show in Beijing, Volkswagen is really pimping its classic up again. As a R400 design study, the Golf can not only impress with its looks. It also has a whopping 400 hp.
D.he bestseller becomes a bodybuilder: At the Beijing Motor Show (April 21-29), VW is showing the Golf as a R400 design study with 294 kW / 400 PS. The three-door, which is also optically brushed for a riot with new add-on parts, is based on the Golf R introduced at the turn of the year, but was again heavily doped.
The two-liter turbo now develops a third more power, has a maximum torque of 450 Nm and offers driving performance like a sports car: the all-wheel-drive model accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.9 seconds, and it is the only Golf that drives faster than 250 km / h.
Because only at a speed of 280 does the electronics put an end to the forward thrust.
R400 vanguard of another performance variant
The R400 from Beijing is a pure study and, according to information from corporate circles, will remain a one-off. But VW announced at the presentation of the Golf R, which cost at least 38,325 euros, that its 221 kW / 300 PS would not be over.
The R400 is at least a harbinger of another performance variant.
The Beijing auto show, which officially begins on Sunday, has become a Mecca for the industry and its new ideas. China’s auto market is expected to grow by around nine to eleven percent this year. Even the recent economic downturn in the second largest economy could not affect car sales for the time being, experts said on Friday.
